The poll certainly has meaning. It reflects the level of public support for th president today. Low support makes him a weak leader with no credibility. A weak leader with low credibility will have problems getting things done.

Bush will probably throw a small bone out there in an attempt to appease the conservative base (i.e. the gay marriage amendment issue) in hopes of elevating his numbers. I think that the conservatives, however, are getting sick of piece meal appeasement (i.e. 2 Supreme Court judges, extended tax cuts) and are demanding that President Bush and the Republican Congress start acting like Republicans all the time.
