Don't be stupid. You're assuming that issue is totally resolved, gone and forgotten. What a horrible argument to make.

What are you talking about? I am addressing some of the arguments made by Bush supporters of his immigration stance on FR that only a few crazed border bots care about this issue. And that is clearly not the case (not that there wasn't ample proof before).

You're making a foolish argument
A) Poll numbers down
B) People say its because of immigration policy
C) Bush makes speech on immigration
D) You expect the fact that a speech was made, to neuter the issue regardless of the content of the speech, the awareness of it, the digestion of the points, the counter arguments, etc

Strikes me a REEAAAALY REACHING for a reason to whine and complain about 'how you were right', usually coming from the 'Bush is the Devil' crowd around here found in some of the immigration crowd.

It comes through loud and clear that when President Bush speaks compassionately of those illegals seeking a better way of life it comes from the heart. It is equally evident that when he speaks of border security his heart is not in it. His problem is that the vast majority of America wants it exactly reversed.

He's stuck and there really is no recovering. My hope is that he doesn't let it affect the war with the islamofascists and while at one time I would scoff at such a notion, I no longer do.

I misread it also- What he was saying that more than just one issue republicans care about the border. We all are mad a shell at Bush and his RINO's for this. In fact, I was reading who was voting for what ammendments in the senate yesterday and Sen Byrd was actually voting conservative on this issue while Martinez, Specter, and McCain were all voting with DEMS.
