The Founders did not even want Senators to be elected. Nor the President by a direct vote.
The Founders were right. Part of the modern problems we have with state politics comes from divorcing state parties from the importance of the U.S. Senate. This is partly why we end up with so many unfunded mandates that our state legislators rightfully complain of.
To: George W. Bush
It is impossible to change but there should be a requirement that only tax payers can vote if you want to get at stopping the give aways.
