Bush immigration speech: Key quotes
bbc ^ | 5/16/06 | bbc

Posted on 05/16/2006 1:54:23 AM PDT by wotan

The following are key excerpts from President George W Bush's televised speech on immigration:

"We must begin by recognizing the problems with our immigration system. For decades, the United States has not been in complete control of its borders. As a result, many who want to work in our economy have been able to sneak across our border, and millions have stayed... Yet we must remember that the vast majority of illegal immigrants are decent people who work hard, support their families, practice their faith, and lead responsible lives. They are a part of American life, but they are beyond the reach and protection of American law."

Oh God, you really DID think it was an answer to your question even though I even explained to you that it was MOCKING your answer.

I know you really regret writing this... I was pointing out that the population has grown (naturally) under Bush, and asking "are there more illegals?" is a loaded question--yes, there are, as there ALWAYS have been from one presidency to the next.
But you didn't get that.
There are more cars. More houses. More total numbers of cancelled TV shows. None of which has a damned thing to do with anything, because unless Bush got rid of every single illegal since the day he stepped into office, your question can't be answered any other way but "yes" BUT it proves nothing because no anti-illegal plan could result in that outcome.
But you didn't grasp that kindergarten-simple concept.

(obviously it didn't occur to you the number could have remained static ;)

No, but you really should regret saying that, as I will show.

(obviously it didn't occur to you the number could have remained static ;)

Addressing the joke you didn't get: How could the number of people born remain static?

Addressing the point you can't get:How could the number of illegals remain static unless as I pointed out not one single illegal got into the country from the second Bush stepped into the White House, a situation no plan, ever, could make happen?

I guess you don't get sick of seeing this so I will type it again: You can't possibly be this stupid.

But as you admitted, I guess you can. I await your next post proving you can't read.

How could the number of people born remain static?

Because people "born" here aren't illegals, genius.

How could the number of illegals remain static unless as I pointed out not one single illegal got into the country from the second Bush stepped into the White House, a situation no plan, ever, could make happen?

By the absolute numbers being at equalibrium, as in the number that sneak in being balanced with the number who go back or pass away, genius.

If he had sent them all back, the numbers would have gone down. If he had been at least as effective as the previous administration, the numbers would have remained roughly static.

Neither of those things happened. The numbers went up.

I await your next post proving you can't read.

How would you know? You don't have enough on the ball to be able to tell.

I think that addressing our illegal immigration problem with the largest ever amnesty in history is a very poor idea. Sorry if that offends you.

How do you get through life with that large "Please Kick Me" sign on your back?

"Genius", when did I say people born here were illegals? I didn't. You are TRYING to get out of the very large hole you're in by claiming I said such a thing when I was making a comparison a first-grader could get but you couldn't: That asking "how many illegals" was as pointless as asking "how many people" as I've explained twice now. But in order to hide your utter cluelessness, you keep trying to claim that's not what I wrote or why I wrote it.

If anyone else were reading this thread they'd be able to clue you in, but you are not only dense, you are willingly so, because you know you blew it but you want to keep spinning in a vain attempt to disprove the obvious.

Oh my God...

How the hell could you do that, genius, if you don't know how many illegals there are because they ARE illegal, genius?

If he had sent them all back, the numbers would have gone down.

And he could send them all back by catching them ALL--which could be done how, genius? What plan would capture them ALL, genius?

If he had been at least as effective as the previous administration, the numbers would have remained roughly static.

But genius, you don't KNOW the numbers because they are here ILLEGALLY--off the books! You don't know that, genius?

Neither of those things happened. The numbers went up.

You can't be--whoops, there's that one again.

You need to do some basic research on immigration before you come up with these childish "solutions". Every decade since the 1940's has shown an INCREASE. That's got zero to do with Bush. ZERO.

THAT was why when you asked the question I asked about the numbers of PEOPLE going up--YES, they have. So have the numbers of homeowners, cars, etc. And NONE of it has to do with the issue of illegals.

How would you know? You don't have enough on the ball to be able to tell

This from the person with the gall to say other people play the Peewee Herman "I know you are but what am I?" game?

Dude, please stay home in November. Or at least attempt to learn basic immigration facts before pretending you're ready to debate.

"Genius", when did I say people born here were illegals?

When you were claiming the increasing number of illegals was a natural progression.

How the hell could you do that, genius, if you don't know how many illegals there are because they ARE illegal, genius?

From the secondary indices they use to estimate the numbers now.

And he could send them all back by catching them ALL--which could be done how, genius? What plan would capture them ALL, genius?

Pretty pathetic when you are reduced to burning a hypothetical in effigy to divert attention from your own incompetence.

I note your increasing agitation and intemperance with great pleasure.

I never said people born here were illegals. Never. I mean, come on, you can't be THAT desperate for a way out of the corner you've put yourself in, can you?

I never said "the increasing number of illegals was a natural progression," either. Nice try; I countered your claim that the number went up by pointing out that LOTS of population numbers go up. The fact that you didn't know that the numbers have gone up consistently since the 1940's shows you are bringing a loaf of bread to a gun fight.

From the secondary indices they use to estimate the numbers now.

But YOU were the one who said the numbers had gone up since Bush came in, you did NOT say the RATE went up, the actual numbers; now you are attempting to change history, but the post is right there in this thread.

And he could send them all back by catching them ALL--which could be done how, genius? What plan would capture them ALL, genius?

LOL! THAT is your answer to a direct question on this thread's subject?!

LOL!

Game, set and match to DW377 due to Papertyger once again avoiding direct questions and tossing mud instead of facts--or even an opinion. LOL!

That was fun, I got a lot of laughs putting one of you uninformed "immigration stalwarts" to the direct questions and seeing you can't hack it when put under questioning. I needed all the laughs.

cognitive dissonance on your part...

I am utterly convinced you were the little "kid" who would invariably yell "YOU MISSED" no matter how close the other kids playing army were when they said "POW."

"I do wonder sometimes what it might like to live in other parts of the country that have yet to 'feel the warm wind on their shoulder'."

One interesting thing about Californian's is that they assume they are unique and trendsetters. Do you really think states like Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Florida haven't been feeling "the warm wind" of illegal immigration for decades as well. Have you ever been to El Paso, Texas? Or Albuquerque, New Mexico? Or Phoenix Arizona? The only thing unique about California is that it is full of people willing to vote for moonbats like Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein and Willie Brown despite having first hand experience with the problems your state faces. The rest of the country is no more responsible for the choices of California voters than they are for the choices of New Orleans voters. Yet, when the crap hits the fan, people in both states expect the country to bail them out. I've already felt the effects of illegal immigration. I felt them when my car was stolen in San Antonio Texas, and I felt them during the four years I lived in Phoenix Arizona. But in those states people elect leaders like Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpio, and Congressmen like JD Heyworth and Tom Delay. They work to solve their problems. Not whine about how no one else feels their pain. So don't lecture me about re-arranging deck chairs. At least not until the people in your state gather enough initiative to get your butts out of your sanctimonious deck chairs and start electing state leaders that generate solutions instead of creating more problems.

"Enforcement is an executive responsibility."

So tell me what your last few governors have done to enforce state laws regarding immigration problems? If Californians are really that concerned about the impact of illegal immigration, that must be a primary consideration when you elect your state leaders. What have they done?
