As for Third World countries, you have obviously not been to large swaths of American cities from Los Angeles to Houston, as well as beyond the Border states, where most of the business signs are in Spanish and the ambiance is more that of Guadalajara or Juarez than anywhere in the United States. Perhaps where you live this transition has not happened. If you are lucky, you may spend the rest of your days in some pocket of old America. Others, especially in the Southwest, are not so fortunate.
A major effect of the illegal alien amnesty in 1986 was to place several million Mexicans on the path to U.S. citizenship. These newly minted voters have permanently moved California into the liberal column. Before the 1990s, the state was moderate to conservative politically. Now it is one of the most liberal states in America. Do we really want to see this happen in other states and ensure a permanent Democratic majority in our country?
I remember, lived most of my life in California, and maybe that is why I'm so depressed about what I've been reading here tonight.
This issue is so much bigger than one-upsman-ship and how much more some one loves George W. Bush than another Freeper. I loved Reagan, too, but realized he wasn't perfect.
This is a crisis and too many people eiher don't realize or don't care... and it will be the undoing of this country as most of us know it and the start of a Socialistic America....
The communist party always knew they could not beat the USA from outside, that they had to win by effecting changes from within. The ACLU has gone a long way towards doing so and this assisted invasion from Mexico is the last nail in our coffin.
All immigrant groups, both legal and illegal, have lived in their own ghettos, where English was hardly spoken; if at all. Many, from the first Irish ones, on down, lived in stinking slums! They did so, because they couldn't afford anything better. Did past foreign born peoples turn America into a "Third World" nation? Did they ruin American "culture"?
The Irish, in Manhattan, were used by and used Tammany Hall to keep Manhattan a Liberal Dem strong hold, for more than a century. Still, even with all of the payoff, thuggery, and worse, there have been GOPers elected Mayor and no, not all of these were squishy Liberal Republicans.
Look, a whole LOT of the problems with and created by illegals, are actually the fault of local communities and states. And California's problems have been legion, even before the 1986 Blanket Amnesty. And nobody, NOBODY took these problems on, on the local level, when it was less pervasive.
I know that this topic means a lot to you, but your class warfare posts, do neither you, nor your position any good at all; drop it.
