"This problem has existed for over 30 years."
In 1970, an Economics professor I had in college outlined three problems in future America.
1)Illegal immigrants
2)Runaway spending on SS and Medicare
3)HMOs
I hate to think this, but unless I die before the age that typical Texas wimmin live to be (whatever that is), I think I may live to see the day when Mexicans are filing lawsuits so they can fly their flag above The Alamo again. Mark my words.
And the SAD thing is... Texas is becoming so diluted, most people here will probably allow it to happen. In the name of "political correctness," doncha know.
WE should change the "Anchor Baby" rule to apply only after a person comes of age at 21. They would apply for their citizenship on the day they become an adult and therefore would not automatically bring their extended family with them.
That depends...you can't claim someone has "deep roots in our country" if they've only been here for five years.
That's not what proposed at all, of course.
Peter King & Tom Tancredo on FOX NEWS NOW!!!
Ouch!
"Dubya will go down as one of our great presidents"
Bears frequent repeating.
Would we be doing this through the courts/INS or just rounding them up and shipping them out?
Bush hater?????Blow it out your ear!!!!!
Rep. King says we should NOT consider letting people who are here illegally stay here. He's the Homeland Secrueity Committee Chairman. Totally against "legalization" and that it is a magnet to pull more people across the border. Rep. Tancredo on now. Praising troops on the border idea. Praising employment ID card. False dichotomy from the President where he says either legalize all of them or round up and deport all 12 million. There's something in between.
Nice strawman. No one is calling for massive roundups. Building a security fence to cut off the influx and then cutting off the demand by going after EMPLOYER has been the overwhelmingly advocated here.
Finally. Thanks for putting it in perspective. We must treat all of our neighbors the same. If troops are going to be on one border, they MUST be on the North, South, AND our unprotected East and West coasts.
Are you foaming at the mouth?
I watched the Presidents speech this evening and found it to be totaly inadaquate to deter the criminal aliens that are coming into this country.6000 national guardsman are a bandaid on a cut artery.
He could have provided additional deterance by cutting of access to all social services in this country. He didn't do that.
He keeps pushing for this bogus jobs bill,so that criminal aliens can do jobs Americans won't do.
I could go on and on but its not worth it.The Presidents speech was a total disappointment.
The Republicans will lose the Next Election there is No doubt about it now.
Tonight was a watershed event--I feel very uncertain...
Legalization for Illegals is still amnesty, no matter how he colors it..
I'm not disappointed, I'm disgusted.

I think there are some who will NEVER be pleased no matter WHAT ATTEMPTS are made...This problem has been around for far too long and atleast SOMETHING is trying to be done about it now...Will it be enough? I don't know, but I sure know one thing - the democrats sure as heck aren't going to fix it, so atleast we can support our reps and keep on sending suggestions and always offer to help volunteer with money or time with the Minutemen. They started the ball rolling and who knows what other balls will get out there as a result. We can't just sit in our barker lounges and cry and whine. Be active, do something construction, but, for heaven sake, don't just whine and criticize!
Disagree with that one. I've talked to many Mex/Cuban/Rican legal immigrants,
and they hate illegals more than we do. They agree with us that illegals should be sent
back without any hesitation.
These people are in the Tampa/St. Pete area. We have many areas that are dedicated
to the migrant/transient workers that follow the growing seasons. What they are all
in agreement with are the felons that are deeply rooted in this culture. Thats what
needs to be addressed.
