We have state legislatures extending rights to illegals -- giving out drivers licenses, paying welfare benefits, offering public schooling and in-state tuition, etc. -- but people on this thread act like there is some overwhelming consensus to crack down on illegals. There isn't.
Absolutely. And it's the US Supreme Court that required public education for the children of these immigrants. Bottom line is that a majority of Americans perceive a problem that needs to be addressed. But a majority also favor a guest worker program. Americans are generally moderate on this.
The only poll that matters is in November. I am afraid that the republicans may be in for a nasty surprise. We'll see.
