Criminal illegals don't deserve breaks
I am still waiting for an avalanche of letters on Friday's (May 19) article about an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic who was convicted of trafficking in crack cocaine and heroin. He "checked with immigration officials and believes he will not be deported as a result of the conviction."
Did I miss something in this story? An illegal alien is convicted of a serious crime and he is not deported.

Senate asks Bush for help on immigration
Senators are challenging House Republicans to give ground on their enforcement-only fix for the country's immigration problems and consider offering citizenship to millions of immigrants illegally in the U.S.
Senate passage of its immigration bill by a 62-36 vote on Thursday sets up a confrontation with the House, where many lawmakers equate the citizenship offer with amnesty.

If Congress and the Senate could handle immigration issues via small 'enchiladitas,' we'd all be better off. They could start with border security and work on the other matters at some time later. No, they aren't capable of handling one thing at a time (and doing a good job of it). Instead they want it all at once and most assuredly, it'll be a mess, designed to reward lawbreakers at our expense.
Snip: In exchange for an amnesty coupled with a huge increase in legal immigration the US Senate has agreed to fencing a limited portion of the US-Mexico border.
The measure calling for an additional 370 miles of fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers carried by 83 to 16. Since the House of Representatives has already approved some 700 miles of additional fencing, it is likely that whatever immigration legislation emerges from the full Congress will provide for extra barriers. The Senate fence measure was embodied in an amendment offered by Senator Jeff Sessions, Republican of Alabama, who borrowed from the poet Robert Frost. "Good fences make good neighbors," he said. "Fences don't make bad neighbors."
Senator Jeff Sessions (R AL) says the triple layer fence will cost $3.2 million per mile.
The fence would be built in areas "most often used by smugglers and illegal aliens," as determined by federal officials. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., estimated the cost at roughly $3.2 million per mile, more than $900 million for 300 miles. At that cost we could build a barrier fence along the entire US-Mexico border for about $6.2 billion dollars. By comparison the private Minuteman border defense group thinks it can build its fence design for below $150 per foot. At 5280 feet per mile that works out to $792,000 per mile, about a quarter of the cost per mile for the federal project.

Aw don't tell me he's gonna buckle?!
I'm sure the MM don't have that kind of $$$ and it's not stopping them!
And look at what it has cost them, as our soldiers in the WOT we are kicking them in their asses in gratitude for what they are doing to protect us
The North American What?
Attorney General Gonzales recently announced a new national strategy to crack down on violent street gangs.
Joining forces with the Department of Homeland Securitys Immigration and Customs Enforcements (ICE) Operation Community Shield, Gonzales has targeted criminal street gangs in six locations: Los Angeles, Ca., Tampa, Fla., the 222 Corridor that runs from Easton to Lancaster, Penn., Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX., Cleveland Ohio and Milwaukee Wis.

'Reconquistador' claims of MEChA bashers laughable
Our view: Secessionist myth obscures student group's work for Hispanic learning
Some of today's anti-immigration activists are subscribing to the old adage that the bigger a lie is, the more people will believe it.
Their target is specifically a student movement known as MEChA, but by association it touches illegal immigrants and those who support more rights for them.

There ya go, Congress! How about la enchiladita de border security as an appetizer and then employer penalties as the main course with a generous side order of deportation of proven illegal aliens, with collection of payment from Mexico for all education and health services given as dessert.
But, as MD said, one tasty course at a time instead of the foul tasting "whole enchilada" known as Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
Let them have enchiladitas, but not the ones they are asking for.
Which in some cases means they release people without a positive ID. So criminals are turned loose without knowing who they really are or where they are from. Cute isn't it? I would like to know who thinks these things make any sense at all.
This is too funny I am right now looking for a cross-refrence here I posted on MS13 to reply to your response LOL
We are cool and thank you for your nice words!
