Now the problem is .. enforcing the laws on a Local/City/State level .. because the Feds can't enforce the laws all on their own if the local level will not help

JMHO, a lot (not all) would go back if we withdrew social services for illegals and cracked down on employers who hire illegal workers instead of guest workers (who they pay higher wages).
I hate some of Russert's tactics, especially the putting up of New York Times quotes as though they were the Gospel of Times.
But it was pretty funny when he skewered Newt with about 5 contradictory quotes about the war.
Newt recovered pretty well, partly because he can talk faster than any human except Chris Matthews.
Basically, his possition was : right to gointo Iraq, Saddam was genuine danger, war was perfectly executed but the aftermath was a disaster for which he blamed Brennan for trying to push American style democracy. He praised the guy in Afghanistan for doing a much better job.

It really is condescending and irritating after awhile. Only blacks can talk about blacks, homosexuals about homosexuals, women about women, etc. The media seems to stereotype groups as badly as the Democrats do it. You’re black, therefore….. You’re homosexual, therefore…..

I think it might have been better had the government never gotten involved in marriage... However, I worry that the family under such an arrangement would dissolve even more so.
In many of the schools I was a sub in, the number of kids without fathers was pretty enormous, and it had a huge effect on their behavior.

People from other parts of the world don't come here to use our social services, but to work and make a life -- look at all the Vietnamese who came here in the 80's -- most have made a good life for themselves and their families and the community they formed, in SoCal at least, is predominately GOP leaning.
If you bring in a whole population who expect to collect social programs to survive we are asking to automatically start electing the DEM party.
