GOP Drifting Toward Disaster

With Senate Republicans “drifting toward disaster” on immigration, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said it’s up to President Bush to reconnect with the majority of Americans who support a strong enforcement-first approach.

Bush will deliver a primetime speech to the nation Monday night on immigration—kicking off what is expected to be a tumultuous time in Washington as Senate and House Republicans clash on the best way to deal with immigration reform.

"If the choice is between Hilarity and a ham sandwich, I'm betting your still voting."

A choice between Hitlery and a case of AIDS would be a difficult one.

Gingrich, who will be a guest on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this Sunday, said it would be a mistake for Bush to embrace the Senate bill.

I guess I should say I just noticed this line in the article:

Confusion over double post, but note this line from the article:

I saw that. I might actually have to break down and watch Big Tim tomorrow to see what Newt has to say.

I fear that Monday's speach will be nothing more than "Come on Congress, get it together and pass my immigration bill". This of course will solve nothing.

Oh that's right; Big Tim...I'll just have to wait and see if I think my stomach is up to it. I don't normally subject myself to that anymore.

Yep, the "speech" will no doubt be more hypocritical lies couched in worn-out cliches in the ever more transparent attempt to insult the American people and defy the laws of our land.

This president doesn't serve the people of this country, he serves other masters. We were good for the votes to get him into office and that's all.

It is simply up to the citizens of this Nation to maintain our sovereignty. I will not watch the speech, but if Tom Tancredo is able to get equal air time, I will watch him.

None of that matters, roses of sharon.

Congress does not need to be doing anything. We have laws that are not being enforced, due to sandbagging by the administration.

The statistics have been presented here over and over. The numbers of employers of illegals being penalized has drastically declined under this RINO administration. Bush personally saw to it that funding for increased Border Patrol agents was cut back.

We don't need any legislation, we don't need judges, we don't need committees or conferences. We need LAW ENFORCEMENT.

OMG!!! THAT is the most damning video I've watched about Atzlan. I knew they were dangerous but until I saw this, I guess I didn't realize just how dangerous they are. That's down right scary! I wish our congress critters could watch this!! How can they be so stupid??? We are going to end up in a civil war before this is all over. These illegals are here believing America belongs to them, and our brainless government is going to give them amnesty!??! Most of these people are very illiterate, and if they are told it belongs to them, they naturally will believe it.

When did you go over to the dark side and become a devotee of Ted Kennedy, Ench?

btw, I noticed that you didn't come on to our civil thread last night or today.

Couldn't handle the thought of actually coming up with ideas to solve the problem, could you? Did just knowing you couldn't get away with the leftist tripe of calling the President a liar there keep you away?

I'll tell you this. If I had to choose between you and the President as to who had character, I certainly wouldn't pick you.

Don't bother posting back. Your hysterical attacks will go unnoticed, and I will sleep in peace, knowing that the country is in the hands of a strong, honorable leader, no matter what hysterical hyperbole and slander against him continues on this forum from you......

I do need to post back, just to say this:

A week or so ago, you demanded that I not post to you ever again.

I have not done so since. Don't you think it's only fair to return the courtesy?

Do you not worry that a fragmented conservative base has allowed itself to become marginalized and isolated around polarized perspectives?

Yes, but I think the only way to save the country from conservatives losing slowly is to offer a clear alternative to what we've been getting. Both parties are under the control of egalitarian ideologies that simply have to be confronted. Yes, for a while we will drop faster, but when the disastrous consequences appear, and it is clear that "real" conservatives are not part of them, because they are constantly attacking the establishment on fundamental issues and the establishment media is constantly attacking them, then conservatives will at last gain politically.

In Britain and France now you have a situation where nationalist parties (the BNP and the National Front) are gaining ground quickly precisely because they have endured the negative media barrage and stuck to their nationalism and traditionalism in opposing illegal immigration, etc. My guess is that the counterpart to these organizations in this country will be the Constitution Party. It might also be the Republican Party if there is a conservative takeover, but the odds seem against it.

Only when you call the President a liar, a la Kennedy/Howard Dean, will I post to you to correct your slander.

If you keep your posts honest, I will leave you alone.

Trust me, I have no interest in conversing with you, Ench. I thought until recently that you were reasonable and decent, but you have proven me wrong. Your emotions are ruling your mind, and your posts no longer reasonable. There is a point at which it is no longer of value to try to debate someone............and you have clearly passed that point.

Bottom line.......the President is not a liar, and you know it (even Ted Kennedy knows that). If you post that he is, I will not let it stand. Otherwise, I will be happy to leave you to your anger and misery.

btw, that request was in response to at least four or five posts to me in a span of about a half hour.

You were badgering, not discussing. There is a difference.

So where does someone like me fit. I am a strong supporter of immigration. I can even hold my nose and support amnesty. I am strong on free trade, balanced budgets and keeping federal intrusion in personal affairs to a minimum. I have always thought of myself as a conservative but I am having some difficulty with the growing number of single issue conservatives forcing state issues into a federal framework (eg eduction).
