The polls are not about Republicans. The polls are the feelings of all Americans.
And illegal immigration is tied for fourth in the areas of concern to American voters.
Iraq and gas prices ARE the major concerns.
Illegal immigration might not be as high a priority here, where I'm surrounded by Hispanic democrats and I can tell you, they support the war and the troops. Gas , we all grumble about but how can you control the price of what someone is selling? We don't have a cold winter coming up to worry about though.
I believe there are people (even here on FR) that, like the situation our President is in and don't want him to "fix things". I'm not one of them. As the poster above mentioned, once he starts discussing our concerns and lays out a good plan, a lot will rally around him again.
Ok. And does he continue to fight for ANWR? Is he out there fighting to repeal gas taxes and energy surcharges? No. He wants investigations into oil companys. Brilliant.
