Book: Bill Clinton's Lawyer Saved Kofi Annan

A new book alleges that U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan was let off easy by investigators looking into Iraq's Oil for Food scandal thanks to the intervention of ex-President Clinton's impeachment lawyer, Greg Craig.

In "The U.N. Exposed: How the United Nations Sabotages America's Security and Fails the World," Fox News Channel reporter Eric Shawn lifts the curtain on the Volcker Committee's investigation into the imbroglio - and explores how Annan managed to slip the noose.

"Accusations that [former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul] Volcker went easy on Kofi persisted," he reports. So much so that two of his investigators, Robert Parton and Miranda Duncan, resigned in protest.

Pierre Mouselli, a business partner of Annan's son Kojo, confessed to Volcker's probers that the U.N. chief knew Kojo was doing business in Iraq, contradicting Annan Sr.'s denials.

In fact, Mouselli claimed to have personally discussed the matter with both Kofi and Kojo at the 1998 the Durban Conference on Racism. The Volcker Committee, however, did "not credit" Mouselli's claims, reports Shawn - concluding that "no independent witnesses" could back up the assertion.

Mouselli's lawyer accused the Volcker Committee of being "manipulated" by Annan's lawyer, Greg Craig, who handled both impeachment and the Elian Gonzales case for President Clinton.

Inexplicably, the high-priced Washington super-lawyer decided not to charge the U.N. chief for his services.

Meanwhile, Secretary General Annan decided to appoint Mr. Clinton as special U.N. envoy for tsunami relief.

Notes Shawn: "Craig's alleged involvement occurred at the same time Clinton was taking a highly visible role at the United Nations, was being mentioned as a possible successor to Annan, and was being given his own office at a U.N. agency."

Can Bill Clinton do anymore damage to our security?

First he turned down Bin Laden from Sudan. That could have saved some people on September 11th, 2001.

North Korea tells Clinton to give them oil or they will build nukes. Clinton gave them oil. North Korea tried it with Bush and it didn't work. When North Korea saw they were not going to bribe Bush, that is when North Korea announced that they had built some nukes.

Clinton made China, the largest Commie nation on the planet, the most favored trade nation with the US.

Not to mention the fact that he put himself in a pickle with the sex scandal and lying. God forbid any of our enemy's from having evidence and using it against Clinton (at the time).

Now this? What more? Shouldn't we be holding him responsible?

And I know, the Clinton's could be back in the pen, er in jail, er behind bars, er death row! I cant type it and I can't say it. White House, there! The Clinton's could be back in the Whnko Hoyyyytrddsdasnnfsg;bgsn. I give up. And they could be doing more damage to our security.

My bet would be Clinton and his friends in the UN. Clinton wants to be UN Secretary-General. If I am not mistaken, the US can not hold that position. Therefore, look for Clinton to move to Africa somewhere.

Judge Ricardo Urbina, a Clinton appointee, prevented a UN whistleblower from releasing evidence he gathered that pointed towards Kofi Annan's guilt in the oil-for-food scandal.

Judge Urbina was in the news again today - he is the jackass that ruled a couple of British talibanis captured fighting US forces in Afghanistan can sue over the lack or respect for their religion they allegedly endured while incarcerated at Guantanamo.

They are seeking ten million, from the US and Rumsfeld personally.

Clinton is like herpes - it's never really gone and you never know when a festering sore will pop up again.

More Clinton meddling.....why?

It couldn't possibly be that Clinton was up to his neck in the 'Oil for Food' scandal and reaping the benefits so he didn't want any deep investigation of Kofi......nah! He'd never do anything like that.....not slick!(sarc)

Many of us here have said that this man's felonies will haunt us for 20 yrs. However the most frustrating is the Bushes for ever talking to this ingrate. Shows ya that this "Two-Party Cartel" has no political boundaries - only doing what the elites want for them. Throw them all out!

It couldn't possibly be that Clinton was up to his neck in the 'Oil for Food'

You know, I never thought of it, but sure. Why not? I know that Clinton gave 3 billion to Hatti and only 2 billion left the country. The other billion disappeared. We had the White Water scandal. Tax payer was out 250 million from a banker, lawyer, and a politician's land deal. We spent another 250 million investigating and all we got was Monica. I think you raised a very fine question.

The day his mother got in the back seat of that Ford and didn't insist that the guy use a condom would ultimately become a day of infamy for this nation. If I had the ability to go back in time and change something, this is it.

Are we investigating this?

There’s nothing to investigate really. The judge blocked release of the information:

Judge Blocks Ex-Prober From Giving Oil-for-Food Docs to Congress

WASHINGTON — A federal judge blocked a former investigator from giving Congress documents from the probe into the U.N. Oil-for-Food scandal Monday, granting the United Nations a victory in its effort to keep material from the investigation from making its way into U.S. lawmakers' hands.

U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina in Washington issued the temporary restraining order after the United Nations filed a petition to block congressional subpoenas for Robert Parton. The ex-FBI agent quit the U.N.-appointed Independent Inquiry Committee in April, reportedly because he believed it ignored evidence critical of U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Parton was eventually allowed to speak to congressional investigators behind closed doors (apparently, his information was so scandalous only scandal hardened souls like congressman could even bear to hear it, us mere mortals are not worthy. We should just pick up the tab and keep our mouths shut.)

Parton is not allowed to speak publically about it – Volcker and the United Nations obtained a seven-year injunction against him.

On your way back, can you please stop by my house in 1984 (make me graduate High School at least) and give me a sports almanac. I'll pay you back big time.
