U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

"the Rats need 12 to 15 million votes to win any type National election, and illegal aliens along with American felons will do fine."

And don't forget the Muslims who are abandoning the Repubs.

The idiots at the GOP wonder why most conservatives could give a rip if we lose at the polls in November.

At this rate, WE DESERVE TO LOSE. WE ARE AS CULTURALLY SUICIDAL AS LIBERALS ARE at this point.

Unmitigated disloyalty to oath.

" As I saw it, we had two choices in '04: Either we handed our collective arses to the UN, or to Mexico. We chose the latter."

Agree. And if the Dems win in '08, that will change in that BOTH will get a piece of us.

You fight it at the ballot box, no other way is posible .... yet. Massive voter revolt, all but the kool-aid drinking D's, R's voting third party. It has happened before, it can happen again.

Don't forget, we all have to fight the inflated numbers of the corrupt fraudulent votes from the left as well. They will be there. We have two battles to fight at the ballot box.

And John Podhoretz wonders in this morning's New York Post why the president's ratings are still down when the economy is so strong. Yes, he mentions the word "immigration" once but is still mystified for the most part.

"Last year an internal memo notified all agents not to give credit to Minuteman volunteers or others who call in sightings of illegal aliens," said one agent, who spoke on the condition he not be identified. "We were told to list it as a citizen call and leave it at that. Many times, we were told not to go out to Minuteman calls."

This is outrageous!! Our government is betraying us!! We are in a growing climate where the goverment controls the people, the people no longer have control of the government. Time to take back our country!!!

You're absolutely right. I had a momentary lapse due to my righteous anger at what's happening to this country right before my eyes.

This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder if Bush truly wants to win in Iraq. He openly promotes that we should have a restricted and ineffective Border Patrol. Is he telling the troop commanders in Iraq to conduct restricted and therefore ineffective tactical operations against the enemy?

It's a long-standing requirement of international law. Whenever a foreign national is arrested--including citizen's arrest--the arrestee must be granted access to a representative of his government upon request, his government be notified as soon as practical, and a representative of the arrestee's government must be allowed to interview the arrestor if requested.

I would find this statement laughable if I didn't live on the border. I wonder if it occurred to this man if there were no "lawlessness" on the border the Minutemen would not be there to begin with. It's too bad they can't keep track of illegals and smugglers as well as they keep track of the Minutemen.

Telling the Mexican government where the Minutemen are is outrageous. The Mexican Government just makes sure smugglers and illegals take other routes so as not to be caught. Our government is doing their "casing the area" for them. How thoughtful.

This is very dangerous for the Minutemen, smugglers are not nice people, and the Minutemen are making it tougher on them. People interfering with smuggling have been known to come up missing, or dead.

If the Bush admin believes that by trashing the Minutemen-patriots and pandering to the illegal alien crowd they're more likely to retain congressional control they're even dumber than they look. First of all, taking the vote of the GOP base for granted is a fool's assumption, and secondly the GOP has always been notoriously unsuccessful at winning over minority groups through pandering.

Karl Rove knows that while the base complains and threatens, when it comes down to election day, they'll never vote Democrat -- so in that respect, we don't count. We're safely in their fold.

They try to broaden the base and reach out to Hispanics, the fastest growing demographic. From a political strategy prospective, Rove is correct.

Since you and I and most FR members will continue to vote Republican on election day, our whining and moaning doesn't matter. That's the reality.

It comes into play if the Minutemen make any arrests--and it's a long-standing requirement of international law.

As I've said many times, I support him 100% on Iraq and Afghanistan, that won't change. And that's where it ends.
