I read your post. You won't vote GOP unless the candidate promises to close the border. So far no one on the national scene is promising to do that. You will vote for a conservative Democrat who will close the border. Is there such an animal? There is no one on that scene either who is promising to do that.

So you're left with maybe some marginalized third party player who will make promises. And so I stand by my previous post. It sounds like you'll vote third party; interesting technique you've got going there.

Vote for someone who has no chance of winning in order to NOT get your agenda driven item addressed.

And, BTW, since when did conservatives decide that the WOT, tax cuts, abortion, etc., were less important than border security.

So where are your answers to the current problems? Criticsm of the disaffected? More votes for the incompetent? Continued support of the failing GOP? The GOP depends on a coalition of Regan Democrats (gone), Conservative Base (rapidly melting away), Independents (mostly gone due to immigration issues), and RINOs (Still there BG!) It can't afford to lose many of any of these elements and expect to maintain control in Congress. IMO it's insanity to think this coalition will hold together given current course and speed of the GOP and the Captain keeps saying "What Iceberg? I don't see no steenkeen Iceberg! Pass the Taco's! full speed ahead"

Hey, enjoy it while it lasts, but come back in November and let's count noses.

My answer sure as heck isn't voting for a third party candidate, none of whom have ever received more than 3-4% of the vote. But hey - bad as the Republicans have been, let's make sure Democrats are elected. We can always do worse and it seems freepers are intent on making sure the worst possible candidates get elected. So be it.

Not all freepers as as disaffected as I am but hey the GOP cannot afford to lose any. You told me what your answer isn't but not what your answer is..Give me a rational strategy, maybe I could agree. Continuing support for the current path we are on is like paying a prostitute with Confederate money..Only happens the first time. Next time no joy.

I think it was Rumsfeld who said if you can't make it better, make it worse and that will force an answer...a bad KINTA in '06 may be just what the GOP needs to get it together for '08 and at least we won't have to choose between a RAT and a BUSH in '08.
