"Wouldn't it be sweet, if the Democrats were measuring for their curtains...

Russert also asked Pelosi about "measuring for curtains" after her prediction in 2004"

You mean like this???:

I would recommend against sleep meds because they do leave you groggy, and you can become dependent on them.

Thanks, but for the occasional and prescribed purpose which I described (jet lag and international travel), Ambien does the trick.

Personally I'd be just as concerned about the long-term use of "herbal remedies" as with any prescribed pharmaceutical. Maybe more so.

The RX drug plan differs for every state, in Michigan it sucks and would cost more than its worth for me. $70+ a month for a discount on the only RX I use that now is less than $20 a month to pay in full.

I'm sure the RAT Governor has something to do with that.

It saddens me no end to hear rants against the RX program and the NCLB......from elites.

Out here in the real world people are desperately in need of help from the government.

If not on education then what?

We can't all live our lives in gated communities.

Decades of abuse by teachers' unions have bequeathed a legacy of ignorance and we must begin to change that by insisting on standards.

"Give him the freaking hook!"

Agree Samantha! He should never had been allowed to be chair of judiciary committee and should be taken off (though, I suspect if he is, he would do more bad-mouthing damage than he is now - - maybe that's why they're leaving im on - - if he remains, he needs to be taken to the woodshed by the Prez every now and then.

I don't know who has the most "pursed lips"..Katrina Vanden Heuvel or Ceci Connolly, but they both look like they have never smiled in their lives..

No smile lines..but, those little lines that go straight up from the top lip from pursing in digust...LOL

"Yes, I heard that discussion re Send a Brick while I was sleeping.

Think I'll replay the show this PM. They gave verbal instructions about a mailer that anyone can purchase for under 5 dollars that will cover the whole deal.

That way, I can send more bricks!"

Here's a link on the web site on how to send the brick yourself (which costs a bit less):

Sean Hannity mentioned using sleeping pills when he flies on the red eye.

I surely do hope he doesn't get into his car and drive himself home when he lands.

You are very fortunate not to have to take any medicines...you must take very good care of yourself.

If I had to pay full price for all the medicine I have to take each month, it would cost me about $800 dollars!!!

ouch.....all the more reasons for seniors to sign up.

I would hate to think about people having to make the choice between medication and food.

All the plans vary in different states, the cheapest I could get in Michigan would be over $70 a month.

If you get less than 12K it would be free, but if you made less than that everything is free, who would care?

I'm not knocking the plan, just pointing out the difference from state to state.

"This lobbying reform Nancy is talking about .. from 1 yr to 2 yrs after leaving government office

Didn't Clinton change to to 5 yrs with he took office and then changed it back when he left office?"

That's basically my recollection - except I seem to recall he changed it from 1 to 5 when he came in and back to 1 as he was making his grand puba exit.

I must say as much as I have major reservations about our NHS system the one good thing is that all medication for over 60s is free.

I agree, I think that Pelosi just looks like a nasty woman gossip monger that talks and talks and talks and never says anything new. She claims to have ideas on all the issues, but does not. She has been an ineffective leader, and in the Senate Harry Reid has been ineffective. I would not be surprised if they were both replaced, just not now. The media keep bringing up Delay and how he had to step down because of the House rules, but they never really make it that clear that those are Republican rules. When are those media finger pointers going to ask why the Democrats have no such rules?

Really? That's rich. "Republicans only" dominate the House and the Senate.

Dominate? The Reps have a razor thin edge in both the House and Senate. If you want real domination look at the margins the Dems had in the House in the 60s, 70s, and 80s and the Senate in the 60s and 70s. I think it is laugable to suggest the the brief blip of the 10 year control of the House from 1994 by narrow margins equates to domination. It is amazing how much has been done given the tenuous margin of control.

Composition of Congress, by Political Party, 1855–2005

If they wanted an amnesty-free immigration bill, they could draft one and pass one. And since it would conform to GWB's proposal of March 2004, he'd sign it.

Not under the present rules in the Senate where 41 Senators can prevent legislation from being passed. The House bill is a no amnesty bill.

100% right on, card. Having been married to alcoholic and priveleged to find friendship and great help in the AA and al-Anon rooms, I think recovered addicts are some of the finest people I've ever met, and abandoning ego and total surrender is a must to recovery, IMO. The Mayo program may employ the 12-step program, but sure doesn't mention it.

Patrick is also imbued with the inalienable Kennedy right to blarney, when necessary.
