You have a right to feel the way you do, and I will not try to dissuade you from your opinion. I can see that you are angry and argumentative. Rave on, but find someone that wants to argue with you... I DO NOT!

My Christianity compels me to be a Compassionate Conservative. I know what President Bush means by that statement. I am NOT for welfare, and I am not for socialism lite. I have lived through 20 or so Hurricanes, and all of the worst ones since Hurricane Betsy. I know how many lives would have been lost over the years if not for our Military and Federal help. If we can help Pakistan, India, Indonesia, and many other disaster stricken areas of the world, then we can certainly help fellow Americans in during times of extreme disaster.

I am NOT defending buying everyone homes (although temporary shelter is a must for those that need it), substituting Federal grants for Insurance, or wasteful corruption like is evident in New Orleans... I am talking about life saving Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Care, Emergency Rations, and debris cleanup. Without these things, hundreds of thousands of people would now be dead. American Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Sons and Daughters would no longer be with their families. These are the reasons that we must have FEMA and Disaster Relief plans ready for ANY contingency.

You may feel that we have no business doing that, but I ask you... when you face Jesus (if you believe in HIM, if not, whatever Deity you do believe in), which decision will you want to have made? Which decision would our Forefathers have made? Since GOD and Faith are in our formal Declaration of Independence, and our Constitution; I believe that I know the answer to that.

Like I said Rave On! I will not argue against your position, but I will never have to defend it either. I have the right to fee the way that I do also.

You and the president and each and every member of Congress can give as much as they want to alieviate the suffering of those in need. They have no legitimate authority to take money from anyone to give to another.

My God, the Lord Christ Jesus, tells me to help too and I do to the best of my ability. He doesn't tell me to put a gun in your face to fund my idea of charity and that is exactly what the government does when it taxes us to do their 'good deeds', which are more like vote buying than anything else.

You're right. You are FEELING your way through this. I'm relying only on facts. You are using one unconstitutional act (foreign aid) to justify another. It's also because so many now rely on the government to bail them out that they do not take the necessary steps to protect themselves. Why should they pay for insurance when Uncle Sugar will pay?

I think that after surviving the first one or two hurricanes that I would have packed up what was left and moved. Maybe I learn quicker than you. Stay there if you want, but you don't deserve tax money any more than the people who build homes near fire prone forests or flood prone river areas. Buy insurance. Save lots of money to rebuild yourself. Do something, but the rest of the country should not be forced to pay for your decisions when they have no choice in whether to pay.

What you take out of your pocket is compassionate. What the government takes at the point of a gun is coercin. Don't you understand the difference?

Go ahead and play the sympathy card and the God card and the 'You're going to hell' card because I think that the government should stay within it's written legal bounds.
