Normally I'm pro-death penalty. But I think it hurts this guy more if he goes out after years of being Big Bubba's Bitch. Who's got 70+ virgins? Not you, pal. Not by a long shot.

Here is what he has to look forward to the rest of his life LOL

ADX Florence is generally home to between 400 and 500 male prisoners. About 22 percent of inmates have killed fellow prisoners in other correctional facilities; 35 percent have attempted to attack other prisoners or guards. As a result, most individuals are kept for at least 23 hours each day in solitary confinement. They are housed in a 7-by-12 foot (3.5-by-2 meter) soundproofed room, built behind a steel door and grate. The remaining free hour is spent exercising alone in a separate concrete chamber. Prisoners rarely see each other, and inmates' only human interaction is limited to that of the prison guards. Religious services are broadcast in from a small chapel.

Most cells' furniture is made almost entirely out of poured concrete, including a desk, stool, and bed covered by a thin mattress. Each chamber contains a toilet that shuts off if plugged, a shower that runs on a timer to prevent flooding, and a sink missing a potentially dangerous tap. Rooms may also be fitted with polished steel mirrors bolted to the wall, an electric light, a 13-inch black and white television, and a cigarette lighter. Windows in rooms are small, set high up in the wall, and point towards the sky, confusing the prisoner as to his specific location within the complex.

The prison as a whole contains countless motion detectors and cameras, 1,400 remote-controlled steel doors, and 12 foot high razor wire fences. Laser beams, pressure pads, and attack dogs guard the area between the prison walls and razor wire. The facility is built into the side of a mountain, and visitors and prisoners enter through the same heavily-guarded tunnel.

After my first post, and then hearing that he was going to Florence, I knew then that he would be segregated. All we can hope for now is that they find him "hanging" in his cell, the apparent victim of suicide. hehe

Fry him in pig fat. He would be no martyr then.

High profile prisoners don't get sodomized in prison. Not when the government has already been called on the carpet for some soliders putting panties on prisoners heads.

This whole thing about "martyrdom" is a false argument.

The jury wussed out because of his "childhood".

They defended a supremacist thug who take glee in mass murder.

Ugh! The widespread myth that other prisoners make life miserable for scum like Moussaui just nauseates me. Grow up people! Please.

High profile prisoners like Moussaui are kept in what passes for solitary confinement in the U.S. He will be in a not-too-unpleasant cell in Colorado. The cell is small, but not as tiny as you might imagine. It only has a bed, toilet and sink. It does have a window and plenty of sunlight gets into the cell. He will be in that room for around 23 hours a day, with two hours allowed for exercise and other activities. He'll be able to shower and attend to his personal needs. While he's out of his cell, it will be cleaned for him. He'll have fresh sheets and blankets.

He will get three meals a day, of food that suits his religious and cultural needs. He'll have a Koran if he wants one, and maybe other books. He'll be able to write and receive letters. Although he won't have visitors right away, as the years pass he may receive visitors.

He will have a life of partial, but not total solitude. It will not necessarily be an unpleasant life if he enjoys solitude. He will get medical and dental care.

As has happened with other Al Queda prisoners in U.S. prisons, he'll be able to use his letters to communicate in code with other terrorists. His letters will be used as recruiting tools in the Islamic world. He'll have the satisfaction of continuing to participate in the jihad if only vicariously.

From within top-security American prisons, men who were convicted of the first World Trade Center bombing were able to participate in setting up the bombing of the Spanish trains a couple of years ago. Our prison officials didn't recognize the hidden messages in their letters to people outside. No one was aware of their continued terrorist activities until after the train bombings. The Spanish government turned up the evidence during their investigation. This information was shown on MSNBC this morning.

I am a virulent supporter of the death penalty, but I am not so sure the jury got it wrong this time.

While I have not been privy to all of the testimony and exhibits, I believe that all they could prove, without his confession, was that he had some contacts with some Al-qaeda operatives. He may have "known" 9/11 was in the works, but did he have enough information that would have, prior to the event, instigated an investigation? Remember, the CIA and FBI were not cooperating with each other at that time and the government, for the most part, was treating terrorism as a crime, not an act of war. It is entirely conceivable that he could have spilled his guts and been completely ignored.

I do think, however, that juries should not take into consideration whether or not the convicted wishes to die. There are specific jury instructions that need to be followed and all other considerations need to be ignored. His "martyrdom" should not have been a factor in their decision.

From a practical, not legal, point of view, it probably does piss Moussaoui off that he is not going to be put to death. On the other hand, from a practical point of view, if he is really Al-qaeda, he now becomes a bargaining chip for them. I can just see terrorists hijacking an airliner and demanding the release of Moussaoui. Hard to do if he is dead.

Lots of good points on both sides of this argument. Jurors were going to face a lot of criticism no matter what their decision.

Kill on the battlefield, not the courtroom. He's going to be persona non grata. No access to media, nothing but loneliness. He's screwed. Like the judge said, with a whimper. This is better. I truly believe it.

"Once in prison, Moussaoui will be in lockdown for 23 hours of every day, with one hour of recreation daily. He'll also spend that one hour alone.

CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said Moussaoui most likely will be locked up inside the federal Supermax prison facility in Florence, Colorado, which is sometimes known as the "Alcatraz in the Rockies." ( Watch a tour of Moussaoui's new accommodations -- 1:35)

"It is a place of extraordinary security, 23 hours a day in cells, one hour of recreation," Toobin said. "It is as close to permanent solitary confinement"

Prison officials, by law, cannot read an inmates mail. The CIA, FBI or other law enforcement agency can......if they want to.

That was my problem with the life sentence. If he is going to get a life sentence he should not have the special treatment of solitary confinement. The best thing for evil people like this or those who kill children is for them to be in general prison population. You could say it might be a slow death penalty sentence if done like that.

The MSNBC report I saw this morning about the involvement of jihadist prisoners in the U.S. with the Spanish train bombings used the term "prison officials." Perhaps they used it loosely to include or imply law enformement. Perhaps not. But the key point remains. They can write letters even in these maximum security prisons, and can get hidden messages out.

Even if they don't embed hidden messages the actual letters become tools for jihadist recruitment. This is what Spanish investigators discovered about events leading up to the train bombings.

A cobra is not dangerous only when it's dead. As a society apparently we are too stupid and weak to come to grips with that truth.

I have no problem with the death penalty, especially for this moussaoui turd. I've only pointed out that his existence will be reduced to a small cell in a highly regulated environment, for the rest of his life. If he had received the death penalty, he would be in this same environment for about 20 years while awaiting appeal...

We have the satisfaction of knowing that there won't be an appeal.... He can make it easy or hard but this routine will wear on him until the day of his death, chosen by the Maker, because he will NEVER have the option of ending it early. Let the idiot contemplate his complete and utter failure as a suicide terrorist.......until he is 80 years old or so.....

You don't know this. You only imagine it and hope it's true.

Well here's the unvarnished truth. As long as people like him breath, they are a threat. The scum who perpetrated the first World Trade Center bombing were not given the death penalty either. They were able to continue helping the cause from prison.

Whatever one believes about the hereafter, in this world the only truely impenetrable isolation is death.

I know the routine, from the other side of the door....

Inmate Moose, time for a shower, turn around hands out, get your head up and back to the door......Second time inmate Moose, turn around and back to the door....Are you refusing your shower? This is the third refusal inmate Moose, I will notify a superior officer. Inmate Moose....you will have a shower. You will be gassed and then you will extracted from you your cell by 5 Correctional Officers....this is your first warning...

He's a real billy bad-ass now, he won't be in a few months.
