The movie "United 93" depicts what David Beamer, father of United Flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer, calls the first "counterattack" in the war on terror after Sept. 11, 2001. Beamer rejects the notion that the movie is coming out "too soon" after Sept. 11. He wrote in The Wall Street Journal last week that if anything is "too soon," it is "too soon for us to become complacent."
You won't hear family members of the 33 passengers and seven crewmembers complain that writer-director Paul Greengrass exploited their loved ones. The film depicts the victims from a respectful distance, with no designated star passenger.

Any first hand reviews?
Todd Beamer wasn't wearing a baseball cap.
I think that was Mark Bingham....the last to board the plane.
I saw this movie, and...
It made me very very angry. As we should all be, but too many are not.
I went to see Ann Coulter at Wellesley College last night, and she said "We can't retaliate against these people reponsible for 9/11 who hate us, despise us and want to see us annihilated and dead, because it might make them hate us, despise us, and want us annihilated and dead."
I went by myself late yesterday afternoon. All I can say is if you have any inclination to go, do it. It's one of the more unique films I've ever seen.
Huh. I thought he WAS wearing a baseball cap.
Yes, correct. I think Mark played rugby at Cal, thus the Cal-Berkeley hat.
Very intense movie...saw it on opening day.
No, that was Bingham.

I'm going tonight. I have heard nothing but good reviews, except for the libs who think it was not fair to the terrorists (NY Times OP ED).
I saw it Friday. It should be required viewing.
The reviews were stunningly accurate - it's well done and almost in real time.
It will take you back to 9/11 - which in this short attention span society is a good thing.

My wife and I saw it Sunday. By the end we were both physically shaking. It is that moving and dramatic! We left angry. not only at those responsible, but at those who would have us "negotiate" and "appease" terrorists! One of the best movies I have seen EVER. Along with the first 15 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan", it should be required viewing for all Americans! This movie will put life in perspective....
I'm waiting to see it till I've had my appointment with my opthamologist. My current prescriptions are so bad I don't think my right eye by itself would be legal to drive.
Hands down, this is the most powerful movie I have seen. The only thing that comes close was the opening of Saving Private Ryan.
I'm thinking of buying a bunch of tickets and handing them out to my co-workers.
Well, I guess.
I made the same misidentification until close to the end of the movie. Bingham was a lot bigger than Todd and the Cal hat was the clincher. Also, Todd prayed part of the Lord's Prayer very briefly during the movie, that's when I figured out that was Todd and the guy in the hat was Mark.
That was what I posted the other day. The movie was nearly as intense as the Normandy invasion scene, and the scene at the end where they fought the hijackers was equally as intense as the hand to hand combat knife fighting scene in Saving Private Ryan.
