Why are they doing this to people who choose to smoke? I know the people who are rich and well known have no problems smoking where ever and when ever they want. But the rest of us are left out here flapping in the wind. They are treating us like the lowest form of life.
If smoking and second hand smoke is so bad, they should have just pulled cigarettes off of the shelves. But the states are craving the cigarette tax money so they won't do that.
And what with big coalitions out there like the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation handing out big money to every state that makes life miserable for smokers, the more money the state will receive from said group.
Excellent point. I called my alderman(Chicago) and asked the exact same thing. The response was that they didn't want to ban the sale of cigarettes because it is a legal product. What a joke. It's legal to own the product but not to use it.
What a hell-hole chicago has become. This is insane. I was there years ago for Martin-Senour paint school, it didn't seem that bad. They must be taking the express-lane down the toilet now.
making it illegal to smoke cigarettes a legal substance in any bar or restaurant within city limits
Jeeze .. that is unreal. Don't preserve your town's integrity, just start auctioning off property.
Cigarettes are the only known product on the market today where it is legal to buy and yet we are made to feel like criminals for using it. Does this make sense to anybody??
And why is the media and the anti's continually allowed to spew the big lie that second hand smoke is killing everyone, when the WHO and the Ornal Study has completely disowned any connection of death with second hand smoke?!
ETS is NOT a killer! It is NOT killing everyone!
And what with all that smog out in California along with the smokers, common sense would tell us that there shouldn't be a soul alive in that state today.
"You can still smoke in a lot of bars."
Can you freep me a list of them? I'd like to keep them in mind for my trip this summer. Thanks.
High Point, NC is hosting the Furniture Market this week.
All those yankees sure like smoking in our bars.
All those yankees sure like smoking in our bars.
I was in NC a few years back for business. There was this seafood restuarant where I really wanted to eat. I drove up to the restuarant and there was a big crowd waiting outside the door. I thought, "Geeeeez, I don't want to wait an hour for dinner. Well, at least I'll check and see how long the wait is..." I went up to the hostess desk, and they seated me right away in Non-Smoking. There were empty tables all around me.........
Something for everybody!
I'd like to see a link confirming this please.
Which one? I do need to clarify, the 6 feet from entrances rule is in Wayne County.
So far so good here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia :)
If you like fishing, and FReedom, you can't beat it. I live 9 miles from the Chesapeake Bay and 15 from the Atlantic.
I am afraid it's not going to come to that, unless we get more smokers up off their duffs to do or at least say something.
You've got that right. The restaurant/bar owners we've gotten to know since moving here 3 years ago have seen a huge increase in business from people that used to vacation in Delaware, and now make the extra 75 miles down to this part of Virginia instead.........all because of the smoking ban in Delaware.
I started tending bar at the local Moose Lodge last week and had a couple come in Saturday night from Pennsylvania. They recently got a place here for their weekends and vacations after getting rid of the place they had at the beach in Delaware - why, because the only places they felt comfortable in was the Moose or VFW, which are among the very few places you can smoke in Delaware.
Any of it.
As much as I dislike saying it - I hope you are right.
