Well, interesting that you ask. So, while I detest doing so, I will try to explain myself. Frankly, I love Mexico. It's a great place to visit. The people are warm and friendly and treat us very well when we visit. I'm neither rich nor attractive. I'm a fat old middle class type, but they still treat me very well, and with respect.

I would have to ask, I guess, have you never been hungry? Lived on practically nothing? Needed things you had no money for? Had family with needs you couldn't handle? How many Italians came here WOP??? Did we send them back?

The overwhelming numbers of them is a real problem, there is no doubt about that. Build the wall, guard the border, but the Canadian one is also very vulnerable and bad. But I don't think one day without illegals would harm our economy, and I guess I just have something I cannot help....it's in me, and my church wants me to have even more than I currently do....that's compassion.

I will probably never have enough of that to please Christ, but I do have it in spades. One day I'm raging about the immigration situation, and the next my heart is breaking. I wish that it were not so, but it is.

Fortunately, I'm not in a position to have to make the decision. For that I thank God regularly, and ask that he guide and help those who must. It's sort of like the death penalty thing. I'm frankly fortunate I don't have to make the decisions.

People speed everyday, I wouldn't take their license for that. People break other little laws millions of times each day, and I wouldn't imprison them or call them major criminals if it's something minor. Tomorrow I may be raging, but today my heart is breaking. It's called being human.

And, of course, I try to never be ugly to anyone. When we were graded back in elementary Catholic schools on "respect for the rights of others" they weren't talking about others having the respect, they were guiding us to guard our own behavior. No matter what someone else does, I'm still responsible for me, and what I do, how I treat people must not be ugly. It would never matter if 71% or 99% thought being ugly was ok and I should do it..... Their opinions cannot guide my own conscience. I still have to live with me. I'm concerned about every living human being, and I'm concerned about my own behavior. I won't allow someone elses behavior, no matter how vile, take responsibility for me.

Sorry, if this sounds preachy. I don't mean to preach. But, words have meaning. There were no words in either question that I could buy, so I wouldn't vote. And thats not just today, but any day.

Yes, it did. I get it now. You are just so overly compassionate. No wonder you detest trying to explain yourself. You are compassionate and people like me aren't.

If Mexico is broken, if it is corrupt and its government incompetent, shouldn't Mexicans stay there and fix it? Is it wrong to insist that they do that?

Why does the Mexican government get a pass?
