We need to do something to show our willingness to fight to keep our country instead of just rolling over because we can't be bothered with a little inconvenience. Otherwise, July 4th will be just another date on the calender.

I think I'll mosey on off to bed. Put a Bugs Life in the dvd player and rest my mind. I'm so disgusted with what I've witnessed today happening in the country we love and cherish.
Take care friend, I'll see you around FR. Night.

So....care to proffer an explanation as to why the lunatics are running the asylum?Must I? lol
I suppose there are a lot of reasons. They basically boil down to apathy which manifests in a multitude of ways. We the people have never truly assumed our responsibilities as the caretakers of liberty and thus others have accumlated control and power.
The founding father's gave us a remarkable system but not one person had ever lived under anything like it. Too many people IMO thought (and still think) that once the War of Independence was over and the ink on the Constitution was dry that freedom and liberty were a done deal. The FFs tried to warn us about that. Reagan said it much more recently, and eloquently, "America is a work in progress." I suspect few really pondered how deep that statement really is.

I AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID.
I think neocaveman is right --- we had a good run, but, without a miracle, it's just about over.

I sense that I'm bringing you and others down and I didn't intend to do that. Things aren't over yet. For one thing, which no one I have seen has said, the Reekin' Keesters aren't going to be happy with any bill Congress comes up with and the President signs. Not the most liberal Kennedy/McCain type amnestia. They don't want citizenship they want amnesty from being arrested and deported and they want to retain all the bennies they've been getting. That won't happen

From this link:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/05/01/immigrant.day/index.html
Companies affected by Monday's demonstrations include:
Tyson Foods Inc. - closed a dozen of 100 plants, reduced staff at others
Perdue Farms - closed 8 of 14 chicken plants
Goya Foods - suspended delivery everywhere except Florida
Gold Kist - closed two poultry facilities, reduced staff at two others
Cargill Meat Solutions - closed plants in six states
McDonald's Corp. - some restaurants operated with limited crews
Some of these may have been posted earlier, but not sure how many of us have been able to get through the entire thread ;-)

It seems, on a national basis, the meat packing industry was hardest hit. All of the top companies seemed to have closed shop!!!

Very impressive! Would you mind if others (cough, cough) semi-plagiarize, or at least borrow heavily from it? :)
