I just felt so embarassed for Colbert last night; NOTHING he said was funny, nor did it get many laughs from the audience. The video with Helen Thomas was funny at times, but because its premise was attacking the President about Iraq, it seemed hostile overall.
Didn't Helen Thomas come in for any ribbing for her slamming shots with a Mexican poolboy or whatever it was she was up to a few weeks ago?
I didn't feel embarassed for him. I felt sorry for him that he thought he was being witty and that he thought that he was controlling our impressions. He failed. We all have things that we fall short on, but few are televised nationally.
I don't think that he realizes how tough the camera is on him (not visually so much as audially)
