I just caught the rerun on C-span. The president and Bridges were very funny. IMO, Colbert wasn't trying to be funny. He was way over the line and so insulting that had anyone been watching in meaningful numbers, the president's approval rating would shoot up 10 points simply due to Colbert's relentless show of disrespect. I've said on here before that my husband is no huge fan of the president and doesn't consider himself a republican. He is a Colbert fan. He thought it was horrible. He just kept rolling his eyes and shaking his head. Colbert didn't hurt the president, he hurt himself. He over shot.
What was the purpose of the Helen Thomas piece? Was it that once one is exposed to such ugliness, there is just no escaping it? That was just stupid.
