I was going to start a thread about this.

What does this 3rd place opening mean?

How can we still remember Pearl Harbor 60+ years ago, but a movie about the worst civilian attach on America five years later can't take the number one position.

I just don't understand

I was so surprised to see a movie out of hollywood where Americans were proud to be Americans, and the enemy is not ambiguious.

I laughed and cried, though I imagine some of the other watchers were surprised at the laughing.

I laughed when the dean clone finally locked himself in the bathroom to call 911. Typical liberal response to a real world problem.

I laughed when the hitlary clone was pummeled by the other patriots on the flight, that was classic.

I cheered the passengers when they stormed the cockpit, I was so proud to know that Americans can do attitude will come forth if you allow it.

Which brings up a good point, if the information about the towers was spread to all planes that day, the disaster would have been much less.

The inept response of the governmental agency's should have been on trial from day one, guess we can keep waiting.

The other striking point was when the terrorists were praying to their pig god, the American's were praying to the god of their choice.... not the one the government told them to.

I'm not a fan of organized religion, but this one fact about the herd mentality of the muslim religion should be the one lesson of that day to all Americans. The entire basis of the muslim religion is based on a inferiority complex. I am surprised they are even allowed to use fire over there. This goes for so called 'moderate' muslims too. I'm still waiting for 'moderate' muslim leaders to denounce the violence to us heathens that don't support the mullahs.

Every American should go see this movie

It wasn't in that many theatres. If you, as someone here did, divide the $ by the # of places where it was shown, it came in first.

"[T]he acclaimed Sept. 11 drama "United 93" debuted with $11.6 million. [Second place when all the numbers where in]

"Married couples accounted for just over half the "United 93" audience, and 71 percent of viewers were 30 and older, according to Universal.

"With painstaking authenticity, "United 93" recounts the horrific end of passengers who fought back against their hijackers aboard one of the commandeered planes, which crashed in rural Pennsylvania. "

Just saw it. Very very good. I don't see how you can leave the theatre unmoved. I needed to go for a work to calm down.

Two questions come to mind:

Was the European appeaser factually accurate?
Where was Bush, the military, and why did it take so long for them to respond? It reminded me of Katrina.

....the sleeping giant woke up,scratched his butt and went back to sleep

- The movie didn't play in as many theatres as the top two

- Word of mouth is spreading fast

- This is one of those "There's Something About Mary" movies (in terms of box office revenue) that will be among the Top Ten for the next 10 weeks and quietly rake in over $150 million.

It wasn't meant to be. It was a serious question.

One of the main points of the movie that kept coming through, even at the end, was what the hell was going on at the federal level, what took so long? I'm not placing blame, I'm asking a question.

At the end is says that at 10:18 the president gave the orders to shoot the planes down. The plane was already down by then. The first plane hit the WTC at 8:46AM. Why did it take an hour and a half for us to figure out what was going on, scramble fighters, and get the president's ok to act? The movie provides some explaination, but it begs the question and leaves you asking.

I'm not suggesting any conspiracy or turning moonbat, but it was a glarring point of the movie and I can't answer the question. I thought maybe some here would be able to; perhaps the 911 report addressed it.

And the referrence to Katrina is fair as well. Same situation - serious crap going on and the feds are MIA. CNN again has more of a clue than the people who can actually do something. Seems chain or command and communications is shot, but I'm wondering what other people thing.

I'm not up for having my heart yanked out of my chest while I'm with a bunch of strangers in a theater.

Hey Diana. I found a fairly private seat in the theater. There were perhaps 30 folks with me. That big screen made such a difference. When I buy the dvd and play it on my 27 inch tv I don't think it will have the same impact.
