Washington - Sometime next month, the U.S. Senate might solve its differences and pass a massive overhaul of the nation's unpopular immigration system.
Then the real struggle begins - striking a deal with House Republicans, chief among them Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner.
"I'm waiting," Sensenbrenner said the other day.
Because of his power, willfulness and strong feelings on the issue, the Wisconsin Republican is a giant hurdle for the kind of broad immigration reforms - including a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants - that the Senate is weighing and President Bush seems open to signing.
In a profile Tuesday, "CBS Evening News" said such plans are headed for a "buzz saw in the House . . . by the name of James Sensenbrenner."

I don't know which report is correct. I certainly hope Sensenbrenner will be representing us in committee.
I called Hastert's office today and asked them if this was true.
They categorically denied it, said that he would take absolutely no action (including selecting House committee members) until the Senate bill was actually passed.
Truth? Fiction?
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Call Early ~ Call Often!
Write Jim Sensenbrenner and let him know that you support him against the RINO President and the RINO's in the Senate. He needs our encouragement.
Yes! Please write your words of encouragement to
Congressman Sensenbrenner When his mailbox is full, the mail will get kicked back to you, but please keep trying that address. More than ever, the "good guys" (Coburn, Sessions, Sensenbrenner, et al.) need our Shakespearean requests to "screw their courage to the sticking place"!
Kind regards . . . Penny

Thank you for the link.
I have all but given up on the Senate paying attention to their constituents. They seem bound and determined to vote for an amnesty bill.
I think our only hope lies with the House. They've already proven that they can listen to us and act accordingly. So, it is imperitive that we let them know we are with and need them to stand firm.
* No more anchor babies
* 25-year moratorium on all immigration from Latin American nations
* Immediate building of a 30 foot concrete and wrought iron wall with guardtowers and patrolled with helicopters and infrared cameras in rugged areas
* Make illegals who want to remain here take immunization and HIV tests, notarized sworn oath to the U.S., must learn English, commit a felony and you're outta here, and must obtain a biometric federal ID card within 60 days
* Those that don't do the aforementioned are obviously take-back-the-Southwest La Raza types & MS-13 gangbangers who would be immediately deported.

Thank you for contacting me regarding efforts to reform our nations immigration laws. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
Estimates indicate that there are currently more than 10 million immigrants residing illegally in the United States, and that this population continues to grow by an estimated half million additional aliens each year. Large majorities of Americans recognize this current problem and support efforts to restore the security of our nations borders and to ensure the accountability of those who illegally enter the United States.
I introduced H.R. 4437, the Border Security, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act, to reestablish respect for our laws by holding those who violate them accountable. This legislation focuses on human traffickers, employers who hire illegal aliens, and alien gang members who terrorize communities throughout the country. The bill was approved by the House of Representatives in December by a vote of 239-182.
I believe that this legislation represents a critical step in helping to regain control of our borders and prevent illegal immigration. Only after the issue of border security is addressed should Congress begin to discuss whether to establish a new guestworker program.
Thanks again for sharing your views with me.
Sincerely,
F. JAMES SENSENBRENNER,JR.

Thanks for the ping. BTTT!
It's a damned shame the President isn't half as astute as Congressman Sensenbrenner.

Be careful how you criticize the President on this issue. He and his brother, Jeb, will label you a racist.
I keep asking myself about Bush "what is with this guy?"
Dennis Hastert: "The former wrestling coach who destroyed America"
Maybe he really is the Anti-Christ.
bttt
Ever since Harriet Myers I've wondered. I mean, is he out to destroy the US?
