Yikes, really? How are they diagnosed if the pain is not there? Since the pain has not yet returned (and of course I pray it doesn't), should I just try to eat less fat and hope for the best, or go in and have it checked?
Never thought about gallstones. Thanks. It was not fun that day. (But the cat scan did not show a kidney stone so your dx piqued me.)
If it was a gallstone attack, you will most likely have more at some time or another.
If I were you, I would see my doctor while it is still at my leisure, rather than wait until another attack comes. If nothing else, it may save you from a more expensive "Emergency room" visit if it happens again, especially if it happens in the middle of the night.
As for diet change, your mileage may vary and past performance is no indication of future performance. In other words its a chance you take and because any fat you consume (and fats are necessary for the body to function properly) could potentially cause a stone to be lodged in the ducts even a lower fat diet can trigger a gallstone attack.
Do yourself a favor, get it checked. Think of the pain you felt. What if that severe pain you felt was only a "mild" gallstone attack relatively speaking?
P.S. Diagnosing can be done by a doctor with an ultra sound if the doctor feels the need after you discuss the problem.
