We have a prime example here in Austin. Ronnie Earle. He tried to convict Kay Bailey Hutchison and caused her a huge amount of money before it was thrown out of court. Now he's filed charges against Tom Delay. Just a matter of time before these charges are dismissed as well, IMNSHO.

He copped a plea. Why?

Maybe to get the knaves to leave him the h*** alone.

But the "loser" is now a shoe-in to be elected a state judge in a Dem Florida district.

Oh well: it's an imperfect world.

In Alabama the individual pleads guilty and sentencing is put off for a time established by the judge. If you mess up the judge sets the punishment. Just confused by the not guilty plea.

Not very different in Florida either.

Despite Roy Black's spin, the breaking news on Friday evening, and the managed damage control, Rush Limbaugh will have to change his plea to "no contest" or "guilty" in order for the charges to be dismissed.

We will know about what will actually happen on Monday. Right now, all we have is the Roy Black's press release as news.

I think Howlin is as nasty as they come.

And still you don't have the guts to say it to my face.

She knows very little about the legalities of Rush's situation, but that doesn't stop her from declaring idiocies about it as if from on high.

I can read and comprehend the English language.

He copped a plea.

+ - His ratings numbers will go through the roof next week.

+ - He cuts partially the attorneys fees.

- - He gets some bad publicity for awhile and lingering nasty comments.

+++ - He retains his credability.

You can slam with the best, so I know you're not whining. I've read your poosts, but for some reason unbeknownst to me, you elected to make the snarky remark about Howlin without pinging her.

Now perhaps you could tell us Rush's side, because I will venture to say that a decided majority of us here on this thread, think the world of Rush.

The Rush apologist cult getting all over you again?

Limbaugh is an unschooled DJ who found a schtick and made money, good for him, but he is not a brilliant mind, just a showman.

I don't see Howlin's post as "gleeful". She has a slightly different take from mine in this situation, but she also knows the law a heckuva lot better than I do!

I bet Rush is glad the shoe has finally dropped, regardless who let loose of it. This was a winless situation and much better to have done with it. Those of us who love him still do and those who wish him ill won't be satisfied no matter the outcome. Have a great weekend Rush and we'll see you Monday. PS loved your mug shot. Keep smiling.

Yes, it all happened on the day he was raising millions for research for a cure of lukemia. What morons! But I agree, why should he pay $30,000 to cover the investigation of charges which were done by a zealous prosecutor who was determined to tarnish his reputation?

Rush obviously broke the law and was addicted, but every other celebrity who has been addicted to painkillers has been totally worshipped for it. The best example that comes to mind is Brett Favre.
