French President Calls on World Bank to Pay PA Salaries 12:40 Apr 28, '06 / 30 Nisan 5766
(IsraelNN.com) French President Jacques Chirac called on Friday morning for the World Bank to pay the salaries of the Palestinian Authority government employees, according to the Associated Press.
Chirac said the World Bank should create a special fund in order to transfer monies earmarked for public service employees in the PA.
The French president met with PA President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday to discuss ways to help the cash-strapped PA.
President Chirac should just pay them himself.
Chirac is a bigger fool then I could ever imagine.
He is a perfect frontman for the french.
Well that's nice of him. I live in Pennsylvania so I'm obviously all for this!
They should seize Suha Arafat's assets - billions stolen from the PA by her late husband - and pay the salaries with that.
That is not what the World Bank is for!
Yep. Why can't the PA pay their own people? Oh, never mind. plastic explosives for suicide bomber vests are pretty expensive.....
exactly
Ha! :)
Oh that Chirac has a sense of humor, doesn't he? If this works for him, he will next ask the World Bank to guarantee the Palis employment......it works so well for his country.
Ol' Jack should dig into his own private UN Oil For Food Swiss bank account.
I'm not sure this is the guy who should be giving advice on solving labor problems.
As well you should! :)
Knowing how money in third world countries works, it doesn't matter who you give it to initially, it always ends up in the hands of a bastard, a tyrant, or a terrorist.
Protection scams are popular in Latin America these days...
Chirac why dont you go ahead and surrender and get it over with...
Money is safer laying on a Vegas poker table than in the hands of a socialist.
Shouldn't be too much trouble. She's living the high life in Paris, isn't she?
Chirac is the French's Jimmy Carter.
