I read the other day that Brazil is also going nuclear. I remember the discussions years ago about Brazil being a future world superpower. They are definitely making some good, long-term decisions. (And some lousy political ones every now and then.)
Our president laid out a clear agenda for energy independence.
This should be a national goal and it should be the ultimate stake in the heart of the terrorists because they thrive on the western world having to kowtow to the islamo-fascists who own so much oil.
Get off of oil.
Get off of it now.
Get off of it now."
Needed emphasis.
Then why isn't he pushing nuclear plants and easing refinery restrictions with the same vigor that he pushed 'no child left behind" and the encouragement of illegal immigration.
All he has to do it go on TV on prime time tonight and in a thoughtful way, tell the American people that if they don't want to continue to pay higher and higher prices then they should push for more nuclear plants and ease refinery restrictions.
He's on the right side of this issue but really only pays it lip service - it's certainly not a priority. And before we blame congress for this, it's not like Bush has really pushed this issue at all.
