Yes and no. More to the point, is that New Yorkers are sick of the routine corruption of state and local politics. NY at every level is run strictly for the politicians, their families and their friends. Republican or Democrat, makes no difference. People are moving out, because they can see how futile it is to expect any honesty in NY.
The taxes are high because they fund the payoffs necessary to the personal enrichment of politicians here, and the sky's the limit.
In NY, "legal" corruption has been perfected, and there will be no change any time in the near future.
The taxes are insane here on Long Island.

So pessimistic. So cynical and depressing.
But so very true.
There doesn't seem to be any way out.
