As an ex-New Yorker, ex-Californian and soon to be resident of Nashville, I can tell you unequivocally that Nashville wins hands-down in quality of life. The people are without a doubt the friendliest in the entire country, the restaurants are great, the homes are affordable, the climate is (while not California), generally warm and comfortable. And there is no state income tax!

Everyone has different priorities, and I'm glad you've found such a great home in Nashville. It is no doubt helpful that the city is prosperous but isn't growing too quickly, unlike some other places.
