A former AF pilot told me that a few years ago, forget what state, several AF couples were on an AF plane and one of the pilots let his wife (who was not a pilot) take the controls. The plane crashed and they all died.

The pilot is responsible for his aircraft. What he do? leave the cockpit during this?

I heard that story too, and I think my hearing might predate yours somewhat.

The story could be a myth, at the same time (where people involved) it might well might have happened.
