I have a Gander Mountain 2 miles away which does a good business but I've bought all my firearms from a "Mom and Pop" in St. Clair Shores called Michi-Gun.

The owner, his wife and son and another guy who work there are the most knowlegable I have ever encountered and I would venture to say that they sell as many if not more firearms than Gander mtn. Plus their prices are just as competitive and their customer attention is far superior to Gander.

Same here in Houston area, I have never contemplated buying a gun from walmart, to small of a selection and no handguns and they are limited on ammo selection. Plenty of good gun stores around here.

I buy all my guns over internet auctions. Much cheaper than Mom&Pop stores, and better selection than Wal-Mart.

Hey, I buy my guns there too! Adam G. is the guy I usually deal with -- great people there. Guns Galore in Fenton is a great place too. They have one-year layaway available -- makes it hard to resist a new gun you've been drooling over.

Exactly, I want to buy my firearms from some who know what they are selling...not some clerk who pellet gun from a howitzer

Fountain Firearms in Houston rocks!

I might buy socks at Walmart, but I buy my guns at a gun store.

I agree. Mom and Pop places have been great experiences for me so far. I went to the local dicks sporting goods on saturday.. I was looking for a new deer gun. The guy behind the counter was very rude. When i asked to look at the firearm he said 'your not 18!'.. i said, 'yes i am 20 yrs old.. here is my ID'... he handed me the gun and after about 1 minute he said in a nasty tone 'you know you have to do a background check before you can have that. right???'.. i responded 'yes ive done plenty of them already.. thanks for showing me the gun, i will take my business elsewhere'. I walked out

I went to a local mom and pop shop up the road from my house.. They had a nice 30-30 in stock at a great price and i ended up buying that. The man that runs the place is great and treats everybody with respect. I am going to take most of my gun related business to him from now on.

If any freepers live in the Catskill Mtns of NY and want a nice gun shop to go visit PM me and i will be glad to tell you where to go.
