It's beginning to look like it is headed for a train wreck with no way to stop it. The feckless security council isn't even going to try and do anything. I don't see how Russia and China can benefit from a nuclear exchange in the middle east. Makes no sense for them.

What it is, could be compared to a feel-good poke in our eye. They feel they are accomplishing something when they hurt our efforts in any way they can, regardless of consequences. The monetary angle gives them the little bit of justification that they need, but I suspect they will cave if and when things get real dicey.
