I agree, but it isn't just the president that is missing the boat, so to speak. He is aided and abetted by our professional political class who are now tripping over themselves to out-pander any prospective opponents. Our congress critters have decided that the American electorate is stupid, lazy, forgetful, and totally irrelevant. They are moving on to the rich, largely untapped illegal segment for votes, and their lust for power knows no bounds.

All one needs to know about the current battle for votes from this huge new bloc of voters, one can learn from listening to Hillary's blatant pandering of late. It is so transparent that only a certified idiot couldn't see through it. It is also a brilliant strategy that will garner her the grand prize in 2008. The one thing the pandering bastards have figured correctly is to never underestimate the stupidity of the general population.

I doubt we have as much as ten good years left as a viable country. I hate to say it, but I miscalculated George W. Bush. He has blown a golden opportunity to be remembered as one of the greatest ever by allowing -- make that promoting -- this current outrageousness; he now epitomizes the "For Sale" mentality of our so-called national leadership.

Lincoln said no foreign army could ever defeat America, cross our mountains, or dip his toe in the Mississippi - unless we defeated ourselves first from within.

We cannot arrest and deport this many enemies, so we may as well surrender.

What are we going to do if and when the thousands, maybe millions left in Mexico wanting to move here, start marching towards the border en masse? Build a fence, begin deporting them as often as they are caught. Begin with those in prison, dump them over the border. Make everyone prove citizenship to work, those with fake documents, deport them. Make all prove citizenship to receive benefits, deport illegals.

You will worry MORE if there is a wall built? What shall we do, spend money patrolling a border that is nothing but a line on the map? Without a solid border fence or wall, the job is impossible.

"Do you really think the Democrat voters will dump their guys?"

Do you think Republicans will either???

It's akin to the last scene in Animal Farm where the animals can't be told apart any longer. If you want to stem the invasion let's recall the military from overseas, put them on the borders and start rounding up the illegals as they seek benefits in every city in the US. The UN needs to go as well. They serve no purpose except to suckle on the teat of American taxpayers. Send RINOs a message and vote them out. If you want true conservative representation then go out and find it - and if not in the GOP go elsewhere!

How many empty military bases are there? Build the wall/fences, arrest then deport after cutting off ALL social services, and changing the citizenship rules.

Sorry, but you're not going to find it anywhere else. It's the Republicans vs the Democrats. No other party stands a snowball's chance in hell. You can quote me on that.

They don't want to assimilate. They want to be legal to work here but keep their Mexican citizenship. They want us to become like to EU and come and go as they please, yet if they work in the US they are eligible to receive our benefits. Mexico needs them to work here and get the education and healthcare, if we provide it they don't have to, in the meantime the money sent home fuels their economy. They don't have to do anything. Vincente Fox is like a pimp sending his ho's out and getting a cut of what they make. And as for doing jobs nobody else wants to do, bull, they are putting American workers out of business.

Another Libertarian idiot. Deporting them is still less expensive than shelling out social services, subsidized housing, schooling, other public transfer payments for these illegals.

Todays's Mexicans are not like the Irish of long ago. What aided the Irish assimilation were a number of things. The Irish still (in most cases) spoke English. Secondly, there wasn't the disparity between the Irish immigrants and our own native born with regards to the average skill level and education levels. Today, nearly 60% of all Latin American (adult) immigrants that we take in on an anual basis don't even have the equivalent of a high school diploma. Third, immigration out of Ireland was nothing like the mass migration out of south of the border. The logistics involved are completely different. Mexico shares an 1,100 mile border with the U.S.. The Irish didn't have the exponential growth rate continually reinforced by an unending flood of new migrants from their home country. These are major differences.

A wall would be great if done right. Symbolically it would only offend those who were hell bent on circumventing our immigration laws in the first place. I say, "screw them". As far as someone trying to blast their way through the wall, I can think of no better way for a group of idiots to attract attention to themselves and provoke the entire law enforcement community to go after them. Precisely the kind of thing one would want to avoid if you are trying to "smuggle" yourself across the border.

What an asinine argument.

There is a confluence forming among the far Left, the Jihadists, and the illegal alien lobby- click the pictures for direct transport to relevant links and commentary, and look around:

I have been psuedo-blogging, for years, a couple of the elements in WWIV ( III being the Cold War ), in which we find ourselves engaged.

The first element?

Islam, a Religion of Peace®? ( links, blogs, quips, quotes, aggravating pictures ) is located here- click the Pic, and scroll backwards:

The other, somewhat interlocking element is this one:

"Thunder on the Border," click the picture:

What is happening under the radar is that the alien lobby, certain elements of radical Islam, and some on the Left share common goals, tactics, and exploitations of our system and society.

Not a conspiracy, but rather a "coming together on common points."

"How do you arrest and deport a column 2 miles long?"

You don't. Instead you close the borders to prevent the real bad guys from coming here (terrorists). Forbid illegals from obtaining free medical care, welfare, schooling for their children, etc., etc. Fine employers of illegals $100K for every illegal they employ. If we dry up the jobs and the free ride, a lot of them will leave on their own.

How about for starters, unlicensed and uninsured drivers pay huge fines say $1000 and doubles exponential every time.

Insurance agencies like employer MUST check documentation, let the enablers do the work. Fine them $5000 and double that.

Make it a FELONY to give false documentation to any entity. Have a choice go to jail or go home, if your caught again mandatory jail time and fine the country of origin.

To rent or purchase a home, must show proof of residency.

To enroll in schools/colleges, students must prove eligibility.

Medical care, OK lifesaving cases provide care and then bill them. No pay? Send them home and bill their country.

No banking, no credit cards, nothing originating in the US.
If you can't rent, can't buy and have to walk or take the bus, it won't be long before they send themselves home.

Absolutely NO government funded assistance to any undocumented person.

Just a few of the top my my head. We need to enforce the laws. "We are a nation of laws" I hear this all the time when they want to promote any agenda. Since when do we pick and choose which ones we will enforce.

Our rights should be a for citizens only. If you want to come here do so legally, and get in line.

Had they stayed in mexico and demanded their rights they might have had a better Country. They are only willing to fight those they know they can bully and Bush has let them know he's got their back.

Yep. Our "leaders" care more for these illegals and their allies than they do for us.

Thanks ever so much for the link to George Allen. He DID vote for CAFTA and would love to take our guns away from us. George Allen is nothing but a Rockefeller Republican which is worse than a Democrat.

I keep hearing about how expensive it would be to find all of the illegals and deport them.

All the INS has needed over the last couple weeks is a supply of cattle prods and troop transport planes....these criminals have been in plain sight!
