Was it the provision about workers, or the people who help them?
Either way, the Dims wanted something to demonstrate about.
The existing law (Simpson-Mazzolli) criminalizes those who "aid and abet".
However, no prosecution of a church or charitable official has ever been undertaken under that law.
The Sensenbrenner bill was amended -- by the Democrats -- to turn the illegal immigrants into felons.
The issue has been hopelessly propagandized -- by the Democrats and their willing handmaidens in the media.
