You missed the point, I'm afraid. the subject was about social services. The immigrants of Ellis Island (some of my ancestors were) were tested for TB, and other communicable disesase. Many of them were sent back. They had to have a SPONSOR who agreed to care for them if they were unable to. We have TB on the border in spades now, and in the prisons, much of it the drug resistant kind. Oh, and they had to learn English

Actually only 240,000 of the 20,000,000 who passed through Ellis Island were rejected, that's about 0.1%.

BTW, TB was rampant throughtout the country. There is a reason that there were sanitariums until the 1940's.

Yes, and it's becoming that way once again.

Just like the good old days, thanks to your border-hopping buddies and their enablers in the United States Senate.

However, in the amnesty of 1986 there were 398,000 cases of fraud, with 2.7 million approvals. Kobach stated it was thought many of the approved were also fraudulent.

Well, I have no idea who you are, except some Libertarian "open borders" troll with a penchant for having nations lose their soverignty, but I for one don't want 240,000 people of any nationality wandering around with TB regardless of the small percentage sent home from Ellis Island. As far as TB being rampant in the 40's, anyway, that's the one we CURED. It cost about $2300.00 to cure, the drug resistant kind we're getting from south of the border now costs $24.000 to cure, if then--- and all paid for by the deep pockets? of the US taxpayer.
