Making as much as someone on the books costs a fraction of what it costs to pay someone under the table. I have no doubt that the employers love to pay just wages and let society pick up the balance.

They are just as willing to pay Americans under the table as illegals.
And they do it all the time. It's nothing new or unique.

ACME Construction shouldn't have to start paying people under the table in order to stay competitive with AAA Construction across town that does it routinely.

Laws are to be enforced, otherwise a country has no foundation. Why do you believe that illegals should be favored over legal Hispanics who have done things the right way -- ones who want to be American citizens in every respect? Why should illegals jump to the head of the line? Because one of your friends or family is illegal? That's not a good enough reason.
