I concur. I do, however, resent the attitude of other posters on this thread who equate "Islam is the problem" with "kill all billion plus of them." In the end, the idea that Islam is a religion of peace is every bit as silly as the idea that we can nuke Mecca and solve the problem.
One last thing, and everyone should consider what it is that gives Simmons some credibility on this issue: As another Freeper pointed out earlier in the thread, June 5th 1968 is not only the day Bobby Kennedy died, it is the day that the modern gun control movement was born. If the jihadis succeed in Europe, it will not be because of nukes or demographics, it will be because their intended victims are already disarmed.
Thanks much for your opinion, I know it took a lot of time out of your day to read this piece.
The three words were "I'm your Grandson."
Hey, they're rootin' fer us! :)
Interesting reading ping
1. What we're seeing here in the U.S. with our immigration debacle and in France with the '05 and '06 riots is that the wimpified West doesn't need an actual, credible threat. Our legislators are sucking their thumbs in a fetal position over a few lost votes, and France's leaders are caving in to rioters who should have been shot on day two.
2. If you were a coward who wanted to kill infidels and terrify those who survived into submission, what would your dream weapon be? A nuclear weapon. And the jihadis are about to get them...
Speaking for myself, a nuclear weapon would only make me more angry.
I come from the following stock - my Gran told me about how she and her friends and neighbours were prepared to beat Germans with broomhandles if need be, surrender was not an option. I'll be out there with everything I have before I ever surrender to these goat shagging bastards. They will have to kill me, because I won't accept their rule.
If our politicians are weak, it's time to give them a sharp kick to remind them who they serve, and who they are supposed to protect. The immigration debate in the USA is a watershed event. It will answer whether Republican politicians are more interested in short term gain, or doing the right thing.

and with the obvious yet subtle, I think SoCalRocket has nailed it.
I am sure your nbrs are right. I have no way or even desire to dispute them.
What about when the inevitable admission of Turkey into the EU comes to be?
saving for later
the islamist banks on the bet that too few of us carry echoes of our own brutal ancestry in our bones for us to be able/willing to stem the demographic (and inevitable subsequent sociopolitical) shift.
they may be right. while there are some of us who would do well in a Legion or a longboat, how many effete pantywaists are there, and which breed dominates the culture?
I come from the land of football hooligans. Enough said.

Same here, but unlike most of France, you and I are already ready to strap on a sword and defend our respective realms. (There are days, my friend, when I am watching the news and I miss my M-16 very, very much.)

Ditto. I will walk the path of Wurmbrand or I will walk the path of Todd Beamer, but I will not walk the path of the dhimmi.

I'm waiting until tomorrow to read up on the details (right now I have to cook dinner and then I have an exciting night of editing ag magazine articles ahead of me) but it's looking to me like they've chosen option A. Freepers can flame me as they wish, but amnesty (may a curse be on it) is not the problem. The problem is any approach to this issue that does not include a big, effective fence. If we don't stop the influx it doesn't matter what we do with them when they get here. Not. One. Bit.
I hate to say it, but I actually believe that your football hooligans might be vital for Europe's long-term survival AS Europe.
Saving for later
you ain't wrong.
I'm not ashamed to think that. We have a legion of violent, rowdy people who would probably kill some people if they were denied alcohol.
The Islamists don't stand a chance.

That's it! The three word warning! "Bush Was Right"!!!!!
I was thinking that as well - surely the most wise course at the moment would be to bolster enforcement rather than consider amnesty.
A bill calling for a reinforced border should sail right through - the American people want it.

You know Ivan, I can't believe I've never pointed you to this before:
