Citing an incident from 1631 is cute but irrelevant.
All faith and cultures were more savage in the 17th century.

In case you haven't noticed, we are discussing the 21st century, and there is only one religion embracing that savagery still. With 21st century weapons.

Apes with computers...

Meeting Doctor Doom [Top scientist advocates eliminating 90% of population for ecology]

"When Pianka finished his remarks, the audience applauded. It wasn't merely a smattering of polite clapping that audiences diplomatically reserve for poor or boring speakers. It was a loud, vigorous and enthusiastic applause."

*shrug* it's a start...

More seriously, because the survivors get to write the history books.

That rules out 'All your base are belong to us!'

But it doesn't rule out 'Make your time'...

My second guess at the 3 words is: "No Internet Porn"

I don't disagree.. However, the three words I mentioned are from the story.

"The vast majority of Muslims in the world are peaceloving people who wish us no harm. I mean . . . I mean . . . the very word ‘Islam’ means ‘Peace.’"

Islam means Peace
Religion of Peace
War on Terror

In my opinion (listed from greatest to least) all three would get the feathers ruffled response from a Replayer, that the author was talking about, and are within the writing.

I think the winner is of the three words contest is:
Islam means Peace

I think the author hasn't come up with the three words yet, but is reading our responses in the hopes that we come up with something.

re :Being a useful idiot.

A useful idiot was one did not not recognize the fact that there was a real threat from the Communists.

I am not saying that there is not a threat from Islam or aspects of it.

What I am saying is that it is not the threat that some here wish to think it is.

I am a firm supporter of the long war against terror.

Using both overt and covert methods.

But I refuse to run around in terror stating that unless we change our ways and become more like the enemy we will lose.

Under Ronald Reagon we recognized the Communist threat and took simple measures supporting those who opposed it, increased defense spending and supporting any pro democracy movements.

We didn't need to become like them to defeat them

and are within the writing.

Why are we assuming that the three words were already contained somewhere in the writing?

We aren't going to annhilate anyone, not if we don't have too.

We may have to.

If we are to survive, we certainly have to kill 'enough' of them. The real question is how many are enough? n=0->1.3 billion. How big n gets depends entirely on how many it takes to make the threat go away.

I'd be just as happy if n=0 as if n=1,300,000,000 as long as the scimitar of dhimmicles never hangs over our species again...

Yuor atttempt at conflating Christian excesses with Islam's is a poor one. In any case, Christianity's history of atrocity and exesses pales before those committed in the name of Islam.

And as another poster has pointed out, Christianity reformed itself quite some time ago.

Islam has yet do to so. Islam has shown absolutely no inclination to do so.

Study Islam's history. Read their damn books! Listen to the sermons in their mosques.

Then speak to me of moral equivalence.

It really is a clever ending to a well written short story.

It immediately brought to mind the end of the first (and vastly superior) "Time Machine" motion picture. That movie ended with two minor characters discovering that the Time Traveller had returned to the Eloi with three books from his study.

They don't know which three books and the movie ends with one character's question echoing in the filgoer's minds "Only ... which three books would YOU take?"
