I look at it the same way I look at ear piercing. It's mainly a cultural/appearance thing.

Forgive my ignorance but, who is Peter North? I just see no reason for the posting of this thread. I mean, who cares?

I'm pretty sure I never said it was nasty looking. The point I made was that we think of circumcision as normal because it's what we're used to.
If you notice a lot of old testament scripture has to do with leading a healthier life, not just spiritual teachings.

He understands. He's in middle school. We've talked to him about it. He undesrstands about the Jews getting circumcised, and he understands why we didn't circumcise him.
He's very happy that we didn't.
I've always told him that he can always have his circumcised if he wants to. So far, he doesn't.

As the mother of 3 sons and a 4th son on the way, I am now being subjected to the anti-circ movement everywhere I turn. However, this is a *personal* decision shared by me and my husband - we'll do what we feel is best for our new son as we did for the first three.
Anyone who believes that men's rights groups re: foreskin preservation don't exist the way N.O.W. does is WAY wrong - pregnant women are bombarded constantly with how horrific that we'd consider mutilating our sons.
That's what we need, another law. This one enacted and enforced by a "world" authority.

I think it's good that people are talking about it. I think the more people are informed the better.
It's kind of like vaccines. My kids were vaccinated, but I appreciate what some of the anti-vaccine groups have brought up.
The more informed we are about procedures done to our infants, the better.
I don't think any medical procedure should be done without careful consideration of the risks vs benefits.
