"We're not fighting the Waffen-SS here," Zinni said on NBC's "Meet the Press" in criticizing Rumsfeld's planning and conduct of the Iraq War. "You know, we're fighting a bunch of ragtag people with AK-47s and IEDs and RPGs."

Marine Corp General Zinni thinks he can do better than Rummy. Maybe he should be SecDef for Hillary.

I think that's what he's interviewing for as we speak.

When Rumsfeld originally made a similar statement about the insurgency, he was roundly criticized for not recognizing the seriousness of the threat.

But democrats always have it both ways.

Actually the insurgents sound better armed than the Waffen SS, they had bolt action Mausers, although late in the war the recieved the MP 44 (I think) which was the first "Assault Rifle" which the AK 47 was designed from. They also had the Panzerfaust from which the RPG was also designed. So the insurgents actually have more modern arms than the SS
