"Speaking of fascinating, did you know that early this morning it was: 01:02:03 04/05/06"
and it will be again this afternoon ~ just my luck I'll probably be "sleeping" through this historic moment, too!

He may have meant the finest troops of modern history (the Germans), whereas the Iraqis are some of the sorriest fighters Americans have ever faced.

A friend, who is informed on the weapons used in Iraq, explained that though they look like the sophisticated counterparts, are basically big bottlerockets with big payloads. They do not have the electronics to guide them as the electronics are too expensive to make in quantity in the back yard of some Iraqi/Palestinian home.
However, the sophistication of some of the ways to hide rocket-armed trucks is pretty incredible...imagine a sandwich truck pulling and the GIs think they are getting chow, but instead the doors open and a barrage of rockets at 150 feet begins.

Interesting article. I hope the article reflects the true reliability of this system. Obviously it would sure be a welcomed defense system for our guys to have.

I certainly hope the system works and is deployed soon. I know all too well the devastating effects of an RPG.

We remain in debt to your son's service. I hesitate to go further. As I read your profile, my heart was filled with sorrow. An ache deep inside. I think of my nephew who is like a son to me, who had served two tours thus far in Iraq.
Your son's sacrifice shall not be in vain. He served with honor and commitment. I only hope that you and your loved ones shall in time have no more ache. Only fine memories of a dear son whom was willing to serve his country with honor. How can one say more. I am not in your shoes. I just had to say something.

I earned my German Paratrooper wings with the Fernspahkompanie 300
The Germans are still very special troops.
