McCain is certainly doing all the right things to reduce his right flank exposure. Out in front on earmarks, in a straw poll told people to support Bush, etc.

It's almost a pity he's so bad on things like immigration, campaign finance, abortion, and real policies like that. He has the possibility to turn the GOP into the minority party pronto.

Of all of McCains so-called 'issues' the GOP base would be thrilled with many of them: Pentagon reform, Pork Spending Elimination & Earmark Reform. But he decided that it was more important to launch into his other 'favorite' issues like Campaign Finance Reform and Immigration Amnesty.

What kind of Republican leads with the issues which are most popular not in his own party but with the media and the GOP's opposition?? If you can answer that question, you pretty much know what to think about John McCain.
