Read my link in #186. This interview took place after Lance's book was released.

PETER LANCE: Right, which he later told the FBI he picked up for $100 in Peshuar before he came in. The fact of the matter is Ramsey Yusef was a direct agent of Osama Bin Laden. Osama Bin Laden had a brick and mortars Al Qaeda outpost in Brooklyn New York as early as March 1981. When Ramsey Yusef had his final public moment, Richard, when Ramsey Yusef had his last, he was a major ego-maniac, as well as criminal genius, but in his last public moment, just before the curtain came down in his career, when he was being sentenced in the federal court in the southern district he went out of his way to attack Saddam Hussein. Went out of his way. The idea that Ramsey Yusef and Bin Laden and the Sheik were connected is just...Paul Wolfowitz by the way, Claire, Wolfowitz's wife is one of the best friends of Laurie Milroy, she wrote the forward to her book, she credits her getting her book and then she credits her with ?

From the same interview:

PETER LANCE: "I don't believe. Saddam Hussein was what they call a secular Islamist, he was abhorrent to Bin Laden and the Blind Sheik. They put him after Israel and the crusaders, which is the West and they put him third on their enemies list and the idea that they had any association prior to the invasion is patently absurd. They've had five months on the ground in that country Amy to produce a single piece of evidence to prove that connection and Paul Wolfowitz even, if you read Bob Woodward's book "Bush at War" between 20% and 40%, before the invasions, 20% and 40% likelihood that Bin Laden was tied into the 9/11 attacks, that Saddam Hussein was. Here's the problem, they used this justification to invade Iraq."

"You have a situation where Haliburton, the former company which the Vice President was president of, got a $7 billion no-bid contract to clean up oil well fires in a country that wouldn't have had oil well fires if he hadn't been the architect of the policy to invade the country. I believe the invasion of Iraq has made this country exponentially more, the danger of this country has increased exponentially since the invasion. You have a virulent Shiite majority that could be democratically elected. You have a protracted gorilla war. You have a $87 billion proposed bail out by Bush to justify the second biggest expenditures since the Marshall plan and you have these sweetheart contracts. The Bechtel and Halibutron that have...if you have a mayor in a small town and his construction company got some kind of a contract to build a highway and no-bid you'd have a grand jury involved in most cities in America."

" And yet, they actually got the American people amped up. Remember the Tom Ridge duct-tape stuff going on in February? They got the American public so worried that there was an imminent threat to our national security from Iraq. Not only has there been no evidence of weapons of mass destruction for imminently poised at America, which they alleged. No connections to Al Qaeda that had been brought to bear but we now know that there have been actual lies in the intelligence..the Uranium story. The American public really should be demanding the truth, the full truth, the 12-year truth, not the truth that you tell in your story which takes 8 years."

Lance is spewing a lot of nonsense, including the obligatory neo-con and Haliburton references. I wonder if he has changed his tune since the 9/11 Commission report and the release of captured documents clearly showing a relationship between AQ and Iraqi intelligence. Moreover, bin Laden invokes Iraq in his 1996 fatwa declaring war on the US and again in his 1998 fatwa calling for a jihad against Americans anywhere if the world.

I read that and thanks for providing it, kabar. I hope you read the link I provided that Lance DID believe in the OKC/Iraq connection.
