there was one of the third man who rented the Ryder Truck. The extra leg was (If I remember correctly) female (DNA) African-American.

Yes. John Doe Number 2. The striking thing about that sketch and the one of McVey was how remarkably true to life each was, a vastly better quality than most such sketches. The FBI never did anything effective to run down John Doe Number 2.
