Maybe so. I believe that the world is a much better place because of any number of people who fixed a problem that had nothing to do with them. I have no children in public schools, but I recognize how important they are. If they ultimately fail, it will be after I'm gone, no skin off my nose. I'm not poor, but I pay taxes to help those who are. I'm not old, but I volunteer for the Community Center. I give blood, but I have O negative; I should logically bank my own blood for my own use, or find another O negative person or two. I'll donate more than I ever use myself. What you do on your own time and dime should be entirely up to you. But I disagree with the rest of what you said. I think that the world would be a much better place if we abolished public education and all New Deal social legislation. And we would all be better off if we minded our own business and stopped obsessing about what other people do even when they don't harm us personally.

I've voted libertarian in the past, though I never will again. Open borders, no standing army, no compulsory education. If we harm no one, no one will harm us. It contradicts human nature and thousands of years of human history, but it sounds good.
Imagine all the money we've wasted over the years on police and military...when all we needed to do was stand up and whine, "I'VE GOT RIGHTS!!!
