This is probably Republicans raising money for Hillary, just so she can win the nomination but lose the White House.

As far as elections go, yes it is impenetrable, as far as liberals go, there are plenty.
The deepest pockets among the politicos in Texas are the Democrat lawyers. I think they account for something like 15 of the top 20 givers.
And something like 10 of them got money out of the state's Tobacco settlement (the lawyers split something like a billion dollars).
Could be interesting to see just who gave.
Democrats may not be able to be elected in Texas but it doesn't mean that there aren't Democrats in Texas.

Austin is like Boulder, Colorado, or San Francisco, California...EVERY state probably has their LEFTY city.
AND, I have news, just breaking---Bush did NOT get 100% of the vote from Texas in 2000 or 2004.
Democrats raise lots of money in Texas.... Lots of Plaintiff attorneys with cash to hand out.

Before anyone gets too concerned, these are very likely mostly idle "corporate wives" who develop liberal passions so they can hang with the fashionables in Austin--the "film industry", etc. I happen to know one of these who wants badly to rub elbows with the "Spy Kids" guy. Soros also spends a lot of money on Austin "documentarians."
It's a social thing for the preachy Mrs. Bill Gates types, only in the blue pimple in an otherwise red state.
IIRC, the aged chorus girl looking thingee, (Ann Richards?) also raised alot of money. Texas is, unfortunately, also home to some rich democrats.

I hear what you're saying. What I never really can get a handle on is how much those soccer type moms want a female president and what they're willing to sacrifice in order to see one in the White House.
It was largely those soccer moms who got Clinton elected. Twice. So I don't have a lot of faith in them.
