I remember at 8am Monday morning, I was hearing LA Sheriffs asking for an air unit from LAPD for a large group...and I thought that was kind of crazy, for so early in the morning. So, listening to the scanner on the way to work, heard stuff happening all over the city. Monday was a city holiday (Cesar Chavez), so I think they were somewhat short staffed. I didnt hear CHP requested until Tuesday when students were running through different State buildings in Southern California. CHP has responsibility for state property.
(I am not even talking about the protest on Saturday....I left town that day)
You also have to remember that only 29000 of 305000 (middle and high school) LAUSD students participated....the media makes it seem like the schools were entirely emptied, when in fact most the A and B students remained. In fact, numerous teachers called radio stations claiming it was like heaven in their classrooms with all the troublemakers gone.
I wonder how many of those students are not legal? I bet half of them.
