What do you suppose will happen if the US is suddenly left with no more migrant workers? Do you think that willing Americans will be flocking to pick fruit in California? I think not. If it is truly an economic collapse that you are worried about then I would think that you should start trying to convince Americans that it would be beneficial to raise the prices of everything that we have become accustomed to having cheaply. Perhaps even convince the general public to look into the job opportunities that will be open to them once all of the illegals are back where they belong. You know, jobs like picking fruit, cleaning toilets, and building highways.

Yes, if you pay at minimum wage, paying less is slave labor.

Of course, I am surprise no one has yet invented a orange picking machine, like the cotton gin does to cotton, which was invented a CENTURY ago.

You're right, of course.

What will happen is that taxes will be raised to provide additional subsidies to fruit farmers so that their fruit can be picked and sold for the current price.

Raising prices will mean that more fruit will be imported from Mexico (as is already being done) and American fruit farmers will simply go out of business.
